The "Wade" Rules
Quote:
In the late 1980s, the Detroit Pistons developed the renowned Jordan Rules to stop Michael Jordan, then the NBA's hottest young player. Now the reigning NBA champion Pistons have another tough defensive challenge: to stop Dwyane Wade, the NBA playoffs' hottest young player. The following are the Wade Rules.
The 6-foot-4, 212-pounder entered the Eastern Conference finals looking unstoppable, averaging 28.6 points in the first two rounds. But in Game 1 of the East finals on Monday night, the Pistons not only won on the road but limited Wade to 7-of-25 shooting and only two free-throw attempts en route to 16 points. Game 2 is tonight in Miami.
To stop Jordan, the Pistons would constantly double-team him. No matter where he went – the top of the key, the wing or baseline – there was a double team, including a big man waiting for him. There may have been a hard foul, too.
While Wade might not be getting that hard foul, today's Pistons are pushing him into double teams, clogging his driving lanes and rejecting his shot when he does break through. They are doing whatever it takes

Re: The "Wade" Rules
Pretty ludicrous to even bring it up or compare the two if you ask me... Jordan had it much, much more tougher.

By game 4 after we are up 3 to 1 this thread won't seem that stupid, I will be back after game 4, see who told you so, ask the Wizards, and the Nets, what Wade did to them.

Re: The "Wade" Rules
It's posts like those that make me classify most of the Heat fans on this board (Sorry Caron) as...let me put this lightly...idiots?
Even if it does happen, what a dumb and idiotic thing to say...AFTER GAME 2.

It seems to me that some Heat fans, not all, are getting way to arrogant and biased. I said that I thought that the Heat would win in 6 before the series started, but now I think that they will win in 7. The Pistons are too good to only win two games against the Heat. This is a great series so far, and it will continue to be great. I'm really not rooting for either team, I'm just rooting for great basketball.
But, even after this tremendous playoff run, the American Airline Arena still seems dead and lifeless. It doesn't seem like many people care. It seems like Pistons fans are just more passionate about their team than Heat fans. Of course, their are some great Heat fans, but as a whole they seem very lackluster.

I'm assuming from your screen name that your favorite team is the Knicks and I agree with you on all points. American Airline Arena was deadly silent for Games 1 and 2 it seemed, which is sad considering this is the Conference finals and the crowd is supposed to be your 6th man in games. I can guarentee the Palace will be jumpin' tomorrow, no doubt about that.

Yes, I am a Knicks fan, but I live in Florida, about an hour away from Miami. There is no buzz here. No one is talking about them, and the papers are just reporting the news, and seem monotonous about it. In New York, the papers were all excited about the Knicks, when they were only chasing a playoff spot!
