Coming from a non Detroit fan who is addicted to the game of basketball: Not that it matters to them or even to you all, but they did 100% gain my respect. They played like champions, with great poise and execution. Sure, some will point fingers at their complaining on calls and stuff...but oh well, emotions get caught up in the game. At some points Detroit seemed unstoppable. It even looked like in game 7 that they would pull away.

I was one of those naysayers that claimed their title last year was a fluke. I rooted for them to win because I absolutely hated the Lakers. I more thought the Lakers sucked and lost the series than Detroit played great and earned the championship. After this series, damn, Detroit is for real. They pushed a great team to its limit. Heck, if Horry didn't...do what Horry does, who knows what would have happened. Congrats to you all for what turned out to be a great year for this team. Next year, I promise I won't underestimate them.

Same here. I didn't ever claim or think that last year was a fluke title, because I saw firsthand how good they played last year, and they made me a believer.


I'll use this thread to say that I gained a lot of respect for Chauncey Billups. He really impressed me in this series, and from an outsiders view, he's the heart and sole of the team.

it was a really good series and pistons played excelent. it could have gone either way.
billups showed that he is definately one of the best, and most underrated, pg in the league.

I am up for a rematch next year. Nice to hear from true basketball fans. It's always fun to have a close well matched series that doesn't have to get negative.
