Both of these guys are "rumored" to be eventual cuts and both IMO would fit pretty well in a Pistons uni. Plus we seem hell bent on adding a backup SF/SG.
It seems like Rose would be easier to convince to join us seeing that this is his hometown team, but a lot of that depends on whether or not he would accept a reduced role and be able to come off the bench. He could also play some spot minutes at backup PG allowing Chauncey to move off the ball during games.
Finley on the other hand is the better outside shooter and defender and probaly fits in a little bit better.
I didn't even include Allan Houston because I think his injury problems will probaly scare us away, but the last guy who we picked up with past injury worked out pretty well in Antonio McDyess.
Who would you rather have? and if not those guys maybe someone else?
The answer could be a little clearer after tomorrow's draft.
I want Finley for the MLE because he can be that 2/3 we needed this year. I would also like to see Houston offered the LLE if he is willing to make a shot at returning. Rose would be the easiest of the 3 to get and I would love to see it happen but i think Finley is the player we need. Houston would be better to us on the injuried list then Horace Jenkins

I think both Finley and Rose are underrated at this point of their careers because people put so much emphasis as to production based on current contract. Both players have (had) awful contracts, but if either are willing to accept the MLE, they'd be a great pickup. I think Rose would be easier to convince to come to Detroit, and I also think there will be a smaller market for him. Rose was covering the Pistons in the playoffs for FSN Detroit, and played college at Michigan, so that may factor into his decision. Rose is 32, but I think a 3-year contract starting at the MLE would be adaquete for both teams.

Rose would be easy to get to come to detroit but I think Finley has a better all around game at this point of his career. Either would be a great help, so I wouldn't get mad with either at the MLE for 3 years.

I remember him at UofM too. He was a hella of a player for us then.
Adding Gomes and Rose would be a nice offseason but I would rather see Hodge and Rose or Finley myself.
I love Hodge, but I think that if we're going to use the MLE on a SG, we need a big body in the draft. Gomes has been compared to Corliss, and I think that Dice can come off the bench and play either center or power forward. A bench of Darko, Dice, Gomes, Rose, and Arroyo could be nasty, I think... maybe. Not sure about the defense of that group.
The thing about Rose is will he be able to fit and play under a team concept and get out of playing one on one. He can be a heck of a team player when he wants, but at the same time he can sometimes be a little selfish on the offensive end. Not to mention his average to below average defense
If we draft Gomes, we eat away at Darko's minutes. I would rather take a young 2/3 in the first round and a project big man in the 2nd, then sending the project to the NBDL for 2 years. Maybe a guy like Marcin Gortat late in the 2nd round.

Gomes can play the Corliss role of creating mismatches from the 3 spot by taking guys in the post. Darko playing time probaly won't be affected much by him, it's Dice and the Wallace's that prevent him from playing.
