Jason Maxiell

I don't like Cincinnati very much at all. Matter of fact outside of Marquette, Notre Dame, and St Louis U, I hate them the most.

http://www.nba.com/draft2005/profiles/JasonMaxiell.html

That aside I approve of the Maxiell pick. If you look at his profile you will see many good things, such as:

Quote:
Strengths: Freakish leaping ability and physical strength allow him to play much bigger than his listed height. Runs the floor exceptionally well for a player his size.
Quote:
Personal: Participated in the U.S. Olympic Festival in 2001. Nickname is J-Max. Son of Patricia Maxiell. Favorite hobby is building model cars. Majored in social sciences.
So he is an undersized big man, who runs the floor well and can jump out of the gym. He has played with the Olympic team and what is his hobby? Building model cars....

I am not saying he is going to be the next Ben Wallace or anything but he is damn near close to having a BIO similar to him lol. Joe Dumars wasn't kidding when he said this guy was made of Piston DNA, he might be related to Ben lol.

Re: Jason Maxiell

Nice disclaimer at the start of your post

I'm still very surprised Max was a first round pick, but the Pistons are just about the perfect team for him to go to. I am interested to see how he does not being double teamed on offense for the first time in 3 seasons.

I love the University of Cincinnati as a program (specifically in terms of the product it produces).

NBA ready enforcers, hoops miscreants, and assassins.

Every single player that comes out of that program plays the game the way I like (tough, defensive minded, intimidating, tenacious, with heart, physical and to the last breath).

- Fortson
- Nick "the quick"
- Patterson
- K-Mart
- Logan
- D. Johnson (Well, there is a black sheep in every bunch)
- Maxiell

...What’s not to love (?).

One cannot be a fan of "Detroit Basketball" and not at least hold an appreciation for the type of players the University of Cincinnati produces.

Re: Jason Maxiell

being a long time xavier season ticket holder i don't care much for mad max as a person. however it pains me to say you got one hell of a basketball player that should fit right in to your style of play. if you guys can keep his mouth shut he will help you out right from the start.

Yes, Max, the guy that barely talks. It has been said that you need three people to have a conversation with Max because he barely talks.

Yeah, it will be a real problem trying to keep Max from talking.

One of the detroit sports radio stations interviewed him after the draft. People can obviously be different on the basketball court but he seemed pretty humble. I just hope we have more luck with this pick then we did with Melvin Levett.

Mel was one the most frustrating guys for Bearcat fans because he had tons of talent but never applied himself. Mel's work ethic was at the opposite end of the scale from guys like Max and Kenyon.
