The Counterattack Against Davidson

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...hitlock/050714

Quote:
To appreciate this column, you're going to have to first acknowledge you've been misled about what's really been transpiring between the Detroit Pistons and Larry Brown.

You think this sorry soap opera is another tale about Brown's wanderlust and double-dealing. Maybe you think it's a riff about his ailing body.

You're wrong.
I am outright shocked nobody from this forum has yet commented on this article in ESPN's Page-Two area... I feel it is compelling and interesting and I find a lot of the ideas put forth to be well-founded. It is interesting to think that they WANT Brown out. But, to tell you the truth, I can't quite find the outrage the author has for the Pistons.

If we keep winning, who cares who gets fired and who looks good? What matters is winning championships. And if we can do that a few more times, I don't care what Davidson does to his coaches/personel, he should be credited for doing what it takes.

I'd write more, but it is time for work (ah midnight shift, it has stolen me from the forums for nearly a month now... see you all in September when school starts up again, I'm having less and less time for this place what with sleep and all being a requirement of life).

-Chris.

Jason Whitlock is tight with Zeke which is where most of this comes from.

Re: The Counterattack Against Davidson

Well, obviously Page 3 is not to be taken very seriously, as it is little more than a glorified sports-fashion tabloid... the contents of Page 2, however, are very much worth taking seriously. Many of the columnists there are dedicated and solid journalists very much worth reading.

The reason they reside on Page 2 as opposed to the normal ESPN.com website is because their overall commentary is laced with more humor than a typical column... basically, unlike much of the ESPN.com stuff, it is fun to read Page 2. However, just because they work a lot of humor into their Editorials, it doesn't mean they are not to be taken seriously. Read it more frequently and you'll notice this.

I try not to take ESPN's front page seriously most of the time, I am not a fan of most of the insider stuff I read on there. So I wouldn't read to much into page 2.

Re: The Counterattack Against Davidson

The article seemed rather weak, like it was just some guy pointing fingers. Possibly because I don't know much about the history of the organization. I can't take it serious though unless there is actual proof.

No matter who wants to blame who, the problem is probably coming from both sides not positive where they want to head. As boring and unexciting that sounds.

Re: The Counterattack Against Davidson

Makes you wonder how much of Carslisle's firing had to do with Davidson just not liking him....When two top notch coaches in this league get let go after successful stints...it makes you wonder if maybe the Palace is a little too involved in this......I dont think Dumars wanted to fire either one of these coaches...

I think when LB became available he had no problem firing carlisle but I agree he didn't want to get rid of LB.

Re: The Counterattack Against Davidson

Whitlock is a Brown lackey and always has been. To me it about you're job. The front office does it job and the coach does there. The front office is paid to find future players and personnel for the FUTURE. A coach and players are supposed to put their full effort on present circumstances tille the season is over. Brown was obviously distracted by all the Cleveland talk and he wanted out: that had to effect his coaching and the relationship with his players
