Re: Buyout Close
Not surprising, I felt that there were pros and cons of both LB staying and leaving. I've been 50-50 on whether I want him back or not. So I'm not going to lose any sleep over him leaving, nor would I have lost any sleep if he were brought back.

Re: Buyout Close
This isnt the last chapter, though we have reached the climax. Much more of the story will unfold throughout this week. Brown could very well keep a job within Detroit's organization as the vice-president and scout. He could NOT accept the buyout and force Dumars/Davidson to react or the buy out could be the end result. We shall see.
I appreciate what LB has brought to the franchise. All of the drama is worth it, as long as the Pistons remain in the finals year in-year out. I gather that Brown truly wanted to remain the coach for Detroit but his health issues are sadly the deciding factor in this case. There is no way Dumars continues the chance of his headcoach missing games like last season. He has seen what distractions do to this team (as well as any team) and the end result was not another championship so the franchise is not in perfect contentment.
Either way I am not worried about the direction the team is going because Flip or Porter will do an acceptable job at the least. We do not know what a Piston team (with Sheed) can do without Brown but what we did see during the first half of LB's first season was a team floating around .500 with no real identity. Did Rasheed bring the gusto with him or was it a combination of factors? We shall see, if it is true that Larry is no longer the coach of the Pistons.

Re: Buyout Close
This team can't afford to go through the growing pains of a rookie coach. If laim wants to do his time for 5 years or so as an assistant the I would be willing to look at him. Do you guys really feel comfortable with Laim going up against riles (if they decide to fire or demote the vacuum cleaner salesmen) in next year ECF? I think Joe should just call SVG to see if he wants an interview for the pure comedy of what SVG would say. Remember how SVG was talking so much crap about us in the ECF. Anyways just hire flip unless you think you can find a good assistant coach out there.

Re: Buyout Close
Joe Dumars will make the right call here, I back him and have no worries about this whole mess.

Yeah Bird was the coach but Carslisle was the assistant....I am 99% sure Carslisle had a HUGE rule in that coaching staff.....Laimbeer just doesnt do it for me at all...If he wants to be an assistant that is fine..but lets get a solid coach for now while this championship core is still in tact...Lets not waste this talent on a coach just learning how to coach

Both Carlisle and the other assistant coach [forget his name] had huge roles as assistants. It's in Bird's autobiography, I was excited when Carlisle was hired in Detroit because of how highly Bird praised him. I'd be satisfied with Laim as an assistant but I doubt Flip would do it

Re: Buyout Close
How about Pat Riley? The man wants to coach again...
Seriously though, Laimbeer should NOT be the Head Coach. Saunders will be of course. Larry will go the Knnicks and we might get a pick out of it.
Im glad Larry is going to the Knicks, because that team has no chance of challenging anyone. Im interested in what he could do with that awful awful team.

Knicks wont have to give us any picks or anything...they bought Brown out for 7.5 mill.....roughly half of what he was owed...so now he is free to go wherever he wants....
