FA chances?

forgive me for bringing up the same old issues, but i am from Australia and i rarely get to hear about whats going on in the nba. I just want to know what our chances of getting a quality backup are? i have been a fan of both finley and rose but feel there isnt much chance of them being in a pistons uni next season.

i hear that we may also go after Houston. From the knicks games that they show here, Houston seemed to have virtually no impact. i feel that getting him could be a huge risk and a mistake. But i could be wrong

could anyone give me more insight into whats happening in terms of FA? that would be greatly appriciated. cheers

Re: FA chances?

Finley might not hit the open market until Oct 1st so he might be a bad option timing wise for us.

Rose isn't going to be cut, but we would be a front runner to get him if he ever was.

Houston would be a nice pickup because he would take the LLE and not part of the MLE. So we could sign Houston and another player, without commiting more then a mill for one season to Houston.

Re: FA chances?

how come Finley wont be available until Oct 1st? is that due to CBA?

Are there any other players that we would have a chance at getting?
would sprewell be an option because of saunders?

Also i might add that it is funny how things happen. Bogut got cut from a basketball club i play for and look where he is now. thanks for the help

Dallas doesn't have to cut Finley until Oct 1st according the rules. While they hold on to him they can try and trade him instead.

Sprewell probally isn't an option after how bad he played last season. The name I would like at is Gerald Wallace from the Bobcats. I think he might be worth a look but is a restricted free agent. I don't know what I would want to pay him but if Finley wasn't an option he might be alright.

Re: FA chances?

I think we're behind a couple teams who also want Finley's services. Those teams could offer him a chance to win and more PT than we could. Places like: Phoenix, Denver, and Chicago.

Also Finley lives and was born in Chicago... Chicago doesn't have the full MLE any more though if I am correct? I don't know if that would have any affect on it though since he's getting 51 million to be cut.

I'm not too familiar with anyone's cap situation, you'd have to ask Froggy. But I think they have some if not all of it because I think that's what Duhon was after. I just know I read an article where he was saying how much he'd love to play for the Bulls.

According to the Bulls board not all of the MLE is left, I don't know much more then that. That was the same article I read about him too. I just don't know if money will matter when your getting that much to be cut anyway.

From an ESPN Insider Article today:

Quote:
That's great news for the 37 free agents who have already come to terms with teams. It's also fantastic for teams like the Nets, Rockets, Cavs and Lakers who have scored significant offseason additions this summer.

But it's bad news for several teams that still have significant cap room to spend this summer. With a projected $49.5 million cap, the Hawks ($23.5 million), Bobcats ($18 million), Hornets ($11 million), Clippers ($10 million), and Sonics ($10 million) still have money under the cap to burn.

Thirteen other teams -- the Bulls, Mavericks, Nuggets, Pistons, Warriors, Lakers, Grizzlies, Heat, Timberwolves, Sixers, Kings, Raptors and Jazz -- still have their full $5 million mid-level exceptions available. And a number of other teams still have partial mid-level exceptions available.

Another 13 teams -- the Bulls, Nuggets, Rockets, Pacers, Lakers, Grizzlies, Knicks, Magic, Sixers, Suns, Raptors, Jazz and Wizards -- can still use their $1.7 million exception.
