Pistons continue to court Finley
Quote:
AUBURN HILLS -- The Michael Finley waiting game continues.
The Pistons are among the few teams still hoping to land Finley, a free-agent forward. They also are talking to guard Latrell Sprewell.
The Heat, Pistons, Suns, Spurs and Nuggets are on the short list for Finley, the hottest free agent in the market.
"We're still hopeful," John Hammond, the Pistons' vice president of basketball operations, said Thursday evening. "We want to be in the running."
Finley, 32, has not tipped his hand about his next destination. There is also no timetable for his decision.
Henry Thomas, Finley's agent, did not return phone calls Thursday.
The Heat are considered the front-runners for Finley because he has a number of connections to the team. He played at the University of Wisconsin for coach Stan Van Gundy, the Heat can offer the $5 million exemption, Thomas is also Dwyane Wade's agent and Finley would be on a contending team.
Meanwhile, the Pistons continue their discussions with Sprewell's agent, Robert Gist. Earlier in the week, Gist said his client is interested in the Pistons, Rockets and Heat.
Sprewell, 34, would be slotted as a bench addition, spelling shooting guard Rip Hamilton.

Last time I checked, Flip got fired, with a very talented team. He aint the same caliber, as Larry Brown as a coach.Yeah I know Larry Brown got fired, but it had nothing to do with his team's performance.

Last time I checked Miami's coach was fired by UofWisconsin while starting Mike Finley... Does that mean anything nowadays though?

Re: Pistons continue to court Finley
no it doesnt.
another rumor from hoopshype.
Quote:
The decision on Dale Davis should happen today. Davis is deciding between Seattle and Detroit. Detroit falls out of the picture if Michael Finley goes to Detroit, but the word around the league is that Finley to Miami is a done deal.

Re: Pistons continue to court Finley
Believe what you want, Finley or no Finley I have my money on Pistons to win the East for a 3rd time in a row next season.

Re: Pistons continue to court Finley
Care to explain how they will? I mean the Heat and Pacers are deeper with better players. Both have good coaches. Flip underachieved all his years with TWolves. The Pistons are past their prime. Larry Brown is what made that team tick.

Re: Pistons continue to court Finley
Pistons keys to success last season:
Chauncey Billups
Rip Hamilton
Tayshaun Prince
Rasheed Wallace
Ben Wallace
Antonio McDyess
Other players
Larry Brown
You Heat fans are going to look quite stupid around midseason if you honestly believe Larry Brown is what made the Pistons go.

Re: Pistons continue to court Finley
Trust me I never look stupid when it comes to the NBA. I will guarentee that Detroit does not repeat as Eastern Conference Champions. I will put how ever many points down. if you want to make a bet.

Cosign. If am still here. Most likely banned. But their is no way, the Piston's could get over the Heat or Indiana. Especially without Larry Brown.

Now, why would I do that? It's not a 2-team race in the East, there are several teams that have a chance to win the conference and it'd be flat out stupid to single in on one team.
As far as never looking stupid when it comes to the NBA...Well, that's coming from someone who just posted in a different thread that Chauncey and Rip are past their prime and Tayshaun Prince only has a few good years left -- LOL!
I could name more, I'd have about 30 people on my side from a certain sim league we were once both in, but do I really have to go there?
