Camp Notes

we got a chance to see the guys do some scrimmage work, and it was quite an eye-opener. ...
Delfino was impressive shooting the ball and driving to the basket. Looks to be ahead of Ronald at this point ...
Maxiell will be the best player that you won't see much of this season. He's so aggressive and physical, and has a really nice mid-range jumper that catches people by surprise. But there are just too many people ahead of him right now ...
Acker's going to be a player. He's got decent range, can put it on the floor and isn't afraid to go to the hole. ...
Maurice Evans is just a solid player with exceptional athleticism, and is a much better shooter than people might think. I see him and Delfino playing the backup 2 and 3 spots this year. ...
Darko was really solid at both ends of the floor. I see him right now as being that fourth big man behind ben, sheed, and dice.
Chauncey and all those guys were more concerned with letting the younger players do their thing, which is no surprise.
Amir is going to be a work in progress, but his athleticism is downright scary.
10/5
They ran a lot of different drills, etc today, with Flip doing more mixing of the lineups. In the portion of practice that we saw, he worked with them on their zone defense. it has the potential to be downright scary because with Tayshaun, Ben and Rasheed's length, there's just no room in the paint to pass the ball and not have your shot contested.
Dupree seems to have a little more bounce to his step this year, as does Delfino.
I think Darko might be ahead of Dale Davis in terms of the rotation, which as you know, is still a work in progress.

Nice to see that the young guys are all looking impressive. I'd kind of given up all hope for Delfino, but if he can round himself back to where he was before his injury we could suddenly have a very effective bench.

Re: Camp Notes
Very positive outlook on our younger prospects. Maybe a little too positive, it doesn't seem to give any criticism but I suppose it's like that in the first days of training camp. I hope the comments on Delfino weren't too sugarcoated. I'm a little skeptical considering I'd also given up hope on him but it looks like he might still be a valid prospect.
Nice to see Flip utilising the zone defense. Hoping to see more of that work next year. If any team can work that type of D and clog up the passing lanes, it's the Pistons.

Re: Camp Notes
Everything sounds pretty good. I am looking to see how Delfino will finish out camp. I still don't have a lot of faith in him after last season.

Re: Camp Notes
If Delfino can just effectively shoot the 3 ball I would be happy. Anything more then that would be a bonus.
Acker should be a real player. Remember the knock on him in the draft was he wasn't agressive enough. Nothing else.

Re: Camp Notes
Good to hear that in addition to shooting the ball well Delfino is driving to the hole. That's a bonus considering the way he played near the end of the season because of the knee.
I hope we get to see some Maxiell get some PT, I've been longing for a Corliss type player since his exit. He could really cause some problems with his aggressiveness along with his body type.

Delfino still looks really good shooting the ball and driving to the basket. I would say he's definitely ahead of Dupree. However, Dupree has been pretty good as well. His jumpshot looks a lot better this year.
Amir Johnson is looking more like a small forward than a power forward. His ball-handling is shaky, but he does have a decent jumpshot.
Mo Evans is just a solid player. He continues to shoot a surprisingly effective jumpshot, in addition to playing really good man-to-man defense. This guy is going to really make a lot of teams realize they totally missed the boat on this kid. I think he will give McDyess a run for being this team's top Sixth man this year.
Dale Davis seemed to be on the floor a little bit more tonight than in the past. He's still got enough to help this team when called upon.
Darko had a couple of nice blocks and some good looks inside tonight. I really am looking forward to seeing what he does against other competition in the coming weeks
no injuries of note to report.

Re: Camp Notes
Amir Johnson will have a load of NBDL time to figure out how he will play.
