Pistons got the first one. Any thoughts on this game?

I will have the usual play-by-play.

The Dallas Mavericks have size and stength and an exception point guard. But otherwise that's it.

Man, Im goin nuts waiting for the next game. I dont think Ive been this excited and anxious in a few years. It feels good to know going into the season that we have a solid bench and that that bench will see some time. Pistons 88 Mavs 81 High scorer Delfino with 17....just had to be different....lol

Darko adds a different dimension to a Center's game, He can shoot the 18 footer, he can shoot the 3 ball, he can dump it down in the low post and slam it home. Darko got skills baby he got skills.

Pistons win the tip and Rip is rejected but it is counted for two.

Mavericks ball, Christie to Diop of the rim and out of bounds.

Pistons ball-Billups to Sheed to Tay who shoots and missses to Terry. Dirk backs in Tay and hits the hook.

Billups upcourt and it is stolen by Terry who misses to Diop who tips it in. Mavs up 4-2. Billups to Rip to Sheed who misses to Howard.

Diop to Howard who misses to Tay who goes to Ben to Billups who looses it to Terry to Dirk to Howard who lays it in. 6-2 Mavs.

Defensive 3 in the key, Billups shoots and makes the free throw. Rip hits from 18. 6-5 Mavs.

Dirk from 20. 8-5 Mavs. Billups to Rip who shoots and hits from 12. Nice shot by Rip, he has six. Then Dirk hits a turn around on Ben and the foul. He shoots the free throw and makes. 11-7 Mavs.

Billups to Rip who misses to Ben who misses the tip to Terry. Terry lays it in. 13-7 Mavs. Billups misses the jumper and SHEED SLAMS IT HOME!

Terry to Howard back to Terry to Dirk and Sheed fouls Dirk. Pistons looking slow on defense thus far. Terry looses it to Sheed to Tay back TO SHEED FOR THE SLAMMMM! 13-11 Mavs.

Howard hits from 17, 15-11 Mavs with six left in the first. Billups hits from 3. 15-14 Mavs. 6:06 left in the first.

Ben to the whole, 15-15. They took away one Detroit point from Billups 3. Sheed gets his second foul and in comes Dyess. Howard inbounds for Dallas to Dirk who misses to Rip. Dyess looses it still Pistons ball. Tay in to Billups to Rip to Dyess who misses and then Dallas turns it over.

Billups upcourt with 4:30 to play to Rip to Tay to Ben, airball to Tay who misses the jumper. Mavs turnover, Rip gets blocked Billups looses it out of bounds. Dirk misses. Rip hit the jumper. 17-15 Pistons. I don't like the tempo at all.

Terry misses to Billups upcourt. Rip to Dyess who looses it out of bounds. Three minutes left and Terry to Daniels to Van Horn and Pistons get it.

Timeout with 2:31 to go in the first. Pistons up 2.
