Alotta ppl have always said that the pistons were great because of LB, I thought he actually did absolutly nothing. I mean look, we already have a better record so far this year.

This is going to be the year where people are going to actually start respecting us.

I think we are going to break alotta records this year.

How many other people think we will do better with flip?

4-0 doesn't come close to the championship that Larry helped bring us. The point is we needed Larry at that point and time and he needed us. I'm happy for the 4-0 start and we looke absolutely great, but we haven't played a contender and we're still only 4-0. As it stands right now (4 games into the season) I think we're the best team in the east.

Yep people act like anybody could coach this team. The bulls didn't start winning championships until they got Phil Jackson. Right now I am pleased with how Flip is doing but until we raise another championship banner he isn't as good as LB.

I think Rasheed did more for the team than LB, quite honestly. Carlisle already had the team at 50 wins, they didn't look appreciably better until the 'Sheed deal.

But, hey, we agree about being the best team in the East right now...

Well like I said, we needed him and he needed us. But like Brian said noone is on LB's level until we raise another banner.

The deal that gave the Pistons Rasheed and Mike James meant a lot more to the Pistons title than anything Larry Brown did.

No Rasheed, no title

Many other coaches could have won a title with that team.

But how many coaches could have beaten the Lakers 4-1 in the Finals with that team? It's no secret that the Lakers, despite being somewhat dysfunctional, looked to be the overwhelming favourites in the Finals against the Pistons. The difference that put the Pistons over the top against the Lakers was Larry Brown's coaching. Sheed obviously had an impact, but it is true when DetBNyce (is that you CJ?) says that Brown is underrated on this board. He's had his problems with the Knicks so far but it's just a speedbump, he's going to get them back on trade after he pounds the team issues into Isiah's head.

Don't downplay how important Larry was to this team. We would not have won a championship without him.

He made everyone on the team a better player. He turned Chauncey into a real point guard, he turned Rip into a complete player, he forced Tayshaun to develop an aggressive mindset, and he helped Ben become a guy that people have to respect on offense.

Do I think we miss him or that we can't be as good a team without him? No, simply because Larry Brown wasn't winning us games with his in-game coaching (in fact I thought his in-game strategies could get pretty frustrating at times), he won us games in practice.

The reason we don't miss Larry Brown is because even though he is gone, the things the guys have learned from him are not.

The Pistons would not be as good as they are today if Larry never coached the team. Simple as that.

Yeah they still havent played Indy or Miami yet....I mean 5-0 is a good start but it is a long season....This isnt the year that Flip has to prove himself to me.....Carslisle and Brown set this team up and the core players know what they have to do.....But in a couple of years when players like Ben and Rasheed start losing a step is when Flip will have to prove himself to me....The Pistons will play hard for Flip this year to prove a point...

Flip might not be a better coach then LB, but that doesn't mean LB is better for the team. His offensive system sucked to say the least and we are now seeing how good we are when we can score. LB did help the team but I wouldn't have ever taken him over Rasheed.

The coaching situation has played out perfectly, we were ready for LB to leave and to bring in someone who was offensively brilliant.
