Pistons grind out a comeback

Quote:
As coach Flip Saunders was addressing the media after the Pistons thrilling, come-from-behind, 111-104 victory over the Suns Thursday, Ben Wallace poked his head into the scrum."

Make him tell you how nervous he was," Wallace said.

"I wasn't nervous," Saunders said, laughing.

No need to be. Down by as many as 11 points in the second half and down by seven with 6:47 left in the game, the Pistons roared back, scoring the final nine points in a game-ending 20-6 run to remain the league's lone unbeaten team.

The 5-0 start is the Pistons best since 1988-89.

"That was the first time Flip has seen us in a tough, tough grind," said Chauncey Billups. "He got to see how we really win games."

Saunders was duly impressed.

Flip can get use to it. If one thing hasn't failed us, it's our ability to play down the stretch and in the clutch.

Saunders is laughing how lucky he was. He almost accepted the job in Milwaukee, backs out, and lands in Detroit.

Yeah they were even before last nights game. Hopefully they can build up a few game lead early this year. It's nice not to be 12-12 and trailing Cleveland again.

haha yea it would be nice to be leading the east record wise throughout the year although i guess it wouldnt matter because we would finish 1 2 or 3 and end up playing 6 7 or 8. all of whom we would beat in the first round. it is all up in the air after that. to start.

The seeding is meaningless to me. I am only worried about where game 7 of rounds 2,3, and 4 would be played at.

true but we know that the pistons can win anywhere if they are playing their game

Game 7 is the most important game of any season. If you lose game 7 your year is done. That game needs to be in Detroit, no matter who we are facing.

Pistons have won game sevens on the road before, they were tied after the third quarter. if they would have played their basketball and not san antonios, they would have won reguardless of who they were playing. they just got outplayed by san antonio.

Which wouldn't have happened in Detroit....Just because they win one game 7 on the road doesn't mean we can just win them all on the road. Do I want Shaq in Miami game 7 and Duncan in SA game 7 every year? No because that is just to much to ask from the players. Give me game 7 at home and we don't have to worry so much.

Of course we don't want it there every year but if we need to be at home to win these game sevens we shouldnt be there anyway
