Why did Pistons fans booed LB?? I watched some parts of Pistons VS Knicks game. It was actually quite embarrasing to see LB got booed. lol
Didn't LB help Pistons win a championship? They made it to Final last season which is not bad at all. Did LB do something to deserve the booing?
To a logical sports fan, no. Larry Brown did nothing to deserve those boos. He brought us one championship, and within five minutes of another one. However, a typical sports-nut-Pistons-fan out there at the Palace has a very short memory (not just fans at the Palace in Detroit, but all "typical" fans that don't analyze it as much as we do). They remember the way he left. The bad taste he left in their mouth. The lies. And that is why they booed him.
Personally, I wouldn't boo him myself... but that's just me.

Just curious, what are the lies and what did LB say? Did the fans blame him for the loss? I thought Pistons played really well against Spurs....?
I mean we Suns fans booed Joe Johnson 'cause he left us for more money in ATLANTA!!! He deserves the blame 'cause he knew if he demands more money, Suns needs to break the core and it's not like he doesn't get enough money. Hawks paid him for 70mil!!! I can see why people booed JJ but I just don't see why people booed LB especially Pistons has won a championship with him.
Well I think some piston fans felt betrayed because there were lots of rumors that he was flirting with other teams during the season. There are others who think he could have done better with the younger players on the roster. Personally I wouldn't boo him I apperciate what he did for us and I don't think we would have won a championship without him.

More fans blamed Rasheed Wallace for the loss to the Spurs than would blame Brown, and Sheed is cheered heartily by fans at the Palace. No... the boos came due to the revelation -early in the playoffs- that Larry Brown was talking about taking the position of President of Basketball Operations (I believe) for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Word came out that he had spoken with the owner of the Cavs about the job. Unfortunately for him, the Cavs demanded an immediate answer from Brown... who needed to command the loyalty of his troops in Detroit and couldn't announce his pending departure as they marched to a title shot.
He then proceeded to spend the summer doing his best to paint Joe Dumars as the bad guy in Detroit, forcing the Pistons' hand in firing him. He wanted the firing more than anything. Unfortunately, due to the title run's length the Cavs took Danny Ferry over him... but he didn't miss a beat and took his "dream job" (as he had stated back in December) as Coach of the Knicks.
All in all, it left a bitter taste in the mouths of many fans, left them feeling betrayed by a great coach they had come to love.

Talks that were in fact, set up by the Detroit Pistons themselves. Dan Gilbert, the new owner of the Cavs is also the owner of Rock Financial - the Pistons biggest sponsor. Admist health concerns, the Pistons set up a meeting between Brown and the Cavs about a front office position in the case that he couldn't continue coaching.
When Davidson decided he didn't want Brown as his coach anymore it was "leaked" to the press that Larry was talking with another team about a job, painting him as the bad guy and turning the town against him.
If you're going to boo Larry Brown for that boo Bill Davidson just as hard.
I really don't believe Larry wanted to leave. No doubt in my mind, he was forced out the door.
Dude you are way off. He was trying to find a way to get himself fired in November. The pistons allowed the cavs to talk to him about the GM position because larry told them there was a large chance he wasn't going to be able to coach anymore.
But it isn't just the fact that he met with the cavs. It was also his flirtation with the knicks in the media. His miserable handling of the bench. The fact that he was pissing off most of the pistons players during the playoffs with his nonsense in the media.
There is more than one reporter in Detroit who got info from a friend of lb that he wanted out early on in the season.
Some people in the front office certainly did play dirty in this little fiasco(not joe d or davidson), but it doesnt change the fact that LB is a drama queen and a weasel.
I almost feel that Larry Brown wanted out since November 19th 2004, but his movement to the Knicks goes against that theory.
However, I feel that the Knicks were more in position to take a chance on LB than the Pistons were. The cost of losing their coach for a significant portion of the season, or losing him period, could severely cost a championship run. The Pistons couldn't afford that, and went after a healthier option. Whereas the Knicks, not really championship contenders could take the chance on LB, one of the finest coaches in the NBA. Their expectations aren't as high and signing Brown could make them a much better team.
I can atleast understand Pistons' fans frustration that LB was talking to other teams during the Finals run. To me in a position where you've reached the pinnacle of your sport the focus should be completely on that. And in LB's case, there was really no need to concern about the future. Regardless if his job wasn't with the Pistons, there would have obviously been an opening elsewhere. LB's the kind of guy you make room for within your organization. I'm not going to pretend that I know the extent of the talks between Dumars, Davidson, Gilbert, and Brown. Seems like you would need a very close inside source to know exactly what went on in those discussions.
