Let's be serious gentlemen, in a thread inspired by the "Bench" thread, it is time we discuss the fate of our own beloved fan favourite. Three years in. Two coaches in. If Darko Milicic was as good as some of us believe he is, he would be in the game. That much is obvious...but now what.

When the dust settles, at this point in time, Darko Milicic is not the player we thought he was...can he be that player? How long do we wait? What makes us think we should wait? Do we cash in now? See what we can get?

My answers...

As much as I love Darko Milicic, we can't wait forever, the secret to a long lasting dynasty is having a proactive GM. We can't wait around for Darko to fall face first into the mud before we decide to get rid of him. What makes us want to keep him? Well, he's shown he can be a big athlete and decent defender for us, however this doesn't seem as important to us as it could be to a worse off team, because we have enough defenders to fend off a third world war. I think if a deal is on the table then we should take it. If Minnesota is stupid enough to give up Garnett we should throw Darko and Rasheed at them and run. Of course that doesn't seem too likely...dumber things have happened.

Actually it doesn't matter if Darko pans out. He was a bonus high pick on a good team. He can probably be a competent nba player but not a star. The problem with what limited minutes he gets is he is inconsistent in them when other guys off the bench make the most of theirs.

I'm not a fan of doing sheed for garnett straight up. Sheed fits in with this team perfectly, why screw with it?

Ive said all along that this would be the year Darko proves one way or the other and seeing that Flip has all but given up on him too I am 99% sure Darko is a bust. He has got to able to get himself ready for whatever minutes he gets and he just hasnt done that. Sheed has really been assertive lately, maybe thats his way of telling Dumars he doesnt want to be traded to Minnesota. At first I was all for the deal of D and Sheed for KG, now with the energy Sheed is playing with I dont want to take the chance. Sheeds importance to the team goes beyond the court and into the lockerroom.

Al Harrington for Darko anyone?

Anyways, i don't know what to think about Darko. I thought he had turned the corner during the pre-season and I was almost certain he would be a contributing player, but it seems that for every step he takes forward he takes two back, or it takes forever for him to make the next. If only the rest of his game would catch up with his defense.

Sheed for KG ... I LOVE what sheed brings to this team. Love it! But if we're offered that or Minny would for whatever reason do it, you almost have to jump all over it. Continuity may be our biggest strength, but you don't get chances to get players like KG all that often and you basically have to do that deal.

I remember being strongly opposed to that Harrington for Milicic deal, but now I'm not so sure. It would be better for our team, now it just comes down to is Harrington the most we could get?

Personally, I think Al Harrington is a pretty damn good player. He would be a perfect fit coming off the bench.

I also would rather not trade Darko. Everybody has always said he just needs playing time. I really don't think that has changed. Playing time doesn't just mean 5 minutes a game every second or third night either. It means prolonged time on the floor and being allowed to play through mistakes. Unfortunately for him, he's not going to get that as long as Wallace, Wallace, and McDyess are healthy.

I'd like to see him get in the game more with more starters when he does play. Chauncey, Tayshaun, and a Wallace need to be out there with him.
