Re: Game Thread: Game #20: Chicago Bulls @ Detroit Pistons
I've always had a soft spot for the Bulls. Chandler is one of my favourite players, and I'm sure I've voiced trade offers on this board over the years. He doesn't seem to have improved over the last five years. Which is kind of unfortunate, but he is still a mighty fun player to follow, and paired with his equally easy to respect team mates this would be a game that I would enjoy watching.
I like Gordon, Hinrich and Deng, and to a lesser extent Nocioni, Duhon and Sweetney. They seem to have a fun coach. All of that being said, let's beat the crap outta them.

Stones knock this one out and they will have a start comparable to the 84 tigers. I feel bad for people that don't start watching until april.
As for the bulls, I probably will never like this team. Regardless they don't really present much in the way of matchup problems for the pistons. Sweetney was a pain in the butt last game, hopefully they contain him and sheed is laughin at nocioni by halftime.

Prediction, 107-99. Pistons go to 17-3.
Ehh... nah. 35-5? The Pistons aren't in their league. The Pistons are barely on pace to match that. Plus the Tigers of 84 were in another league entirely, a step above the rest of the majors that season. The most runs scored of any team in the league and the fewest runs given up of any team in the league. Remarkable year.
Unless the Pistons win 70 I can't compare them to those Tygs.

You can compare them easily. There are more then double the amount of games in baseball, and this team is a world-beater if you havn't noticed.
In terms of quality of teams, this Detroit Piston team is just as good as that Tiger team, hell it is a championship team Woj. Matter of fact, I think this Piston team is BETTER in terms of just how good they can be/are then that Tiger team.
Now, what if this Piston team goes 35-5 with HALF the amount of games? That would be SICK.

The thing is... with baseball you play games three at a time, four at a time, sometimes six at a time. Your team has so many games packed into such a small schedule that putting together a hot streak like the start to that season is all the more impressive to me.
Like I said, if the Pistons continue a 70 win pace, even a 67 or 68 win pace, I'll start to compare... but with the way the Pistons have played their games (only one or two great quarters per night) I have been kinda discouraged by them. Despite their record, they aren't playing to their full potential out there. They could be so much more.
Maybe this is all about perception, we're really arguing a moot point... the legendary Tigers season (the best 40 game start in major league history, might I add) is long gone. The Pistons are still building their legacy. In terms of longevity I already put this team right with that one (the Tygs between 84-86 were hot, they only won one title in those three years, but they were great all three years), and ahead if the `Stons win the title this year.
Anyway, eh... again, all a matter of perception and memory.
-Chris.

Anyways, it'll be interesting to see if Sheed can get off again, and if he does what the Bulls will do about it.
Re: Game Thread: Game #20: Chicago Bulls @ Detroit Pistons
No goggles tonight, and we should be focused on stopping Sweetney early (he killed us last game), and limiting offensive rebounds, which has been a problem for us all year.
Re: Game Thread: Game #20: Chicago Bulls @ Detroit Pistons
Well, Comcast cable in East Lansing continues to make me want to kill somebody.
They just aren't showing the game tonight. No reason. Frankly I'm surprised it took 20 games for this to happen. They'll do it 5-6 times a year.
That's not all though. They aren't even showing the Michigan State game either. I mean, why would you want to televise a basketball game in the town that team is located. That wouldn't make any sense.
And what's MORE is as an attempt to make sure I wouldn't miss games I actually tried to order NBA league pass this year, only Comcast doesn't offer THAT in this area either.

Glorious.
Damn man, rough ordeal! I got out of there just in time. I don't even know what to say, fearing I'll just make you madder.
