Re: Game Thread: Game #36: Atlanta Hawks vs Detroit Pistons
Already have the game thread one day in advance, good work Lope31! It's funny how the Hawk starters have 3 different uniforms. Anyways I want to see the Smith versus Prince match-up, it's going to be a good one.

Put your counting hat back on, Solid, there are four different unis on that Hawks lineup! The Pistons are going to, hopefully, have a nice wipe-the-floor win here. We haven't really had that since the Chicago/Charlotte back to back games in mid-December. The game the other night against Charlotte was a good one... but for some odd reason it didn't have a blowout 'feel' to it, I don't know if that makes sense. I just want to see a game where they dominate all aspects and really take apart the opposition.
Watch, because I said this... we lose.

Very astute obsevation Chriswoj, I too would like to see us put them away early and continue to get the bench some extended minutes. I think I say this just about every time...but I really believe that if the bench struggles we will have problems later in the playoffs.

I'm going to predict a breakout game for delfino tonight. After a solid showing vs Boston his confidence is probably brimming and he will be agressive. Plus who on atlanta's roster is going to stop him going to the rack? 20+ for delfino.

I'm in favour of watching Carlos Delfino go for over twenty points. There would just be something about that that makes my recent revelation about Darko seem that much easier.

Re: Game Thread: Game #36: Atlanta Hawks vs Detroit Pistons
Is it just me or does Dumars do a far better job with middle-low draft picks than with the high ones? He hasn't had a decent top-20 pick.
Brian Cardinal was a great hustle-guy draft pick.
But in the same draft at #14 he chose Mateen Cleaves, ultrascrub.
Mehmet Okur was a VERY good 2nd round draft pick.
But Rodney White turned out to be, at #9, a God amongst scrubs.
Tayshaun Prince at #23... very good very very good pick.
Carlos Delfino was an excellent pick, looking back now, at #25.
But Darko Milicic has all but fallen into the realm of bustness at #2.
By the way... Andreas Glyniadakis is pulling down 10/5 in the NBDL.
Haven't seen anything out of Ricky Paulding yet. Has he even played an NBA game? An NBDL game?
And right now Acker and Amir are showing promise in practice, with Maxiell playing great when he's out on the floor. I've seen two bad picks that weren't top 20 from Dumars, thats it. He's a great evaluator of that middling talent, but I think he gets some kind of ADD when he's got a pick in the top 20.

Hawks seem to play pretty well against defensive teams. Let see if they can pull another upset at home.

Darko is the fire that keeps this team going. By fire i mean keeping that bench nice and cozy for our starters thats our key to our 30-5 record.

Re: Game Thread: Game #36: Atlanta Hawks vs Detroit Pistons
The question is... Do we see a starter AT ALL in the second half?
Who is active for tonight's game?
Arroyo
Delfino
Evans/Maxiell
McDyess
Davis/Milicic
Maybe a few moments of either Rip or Chauncey spelling the guards... but I could see us easily playing dead-even with Atlanta in the second half using that lineup, maybe giving up some of this lead by the end... but this game isn't worth tiring out the starters on anymore.

Re: Game Thread: Game #36: Atlanta Hawks vs Detroit Pistons
Finally I ask for bench production and get it. These are the types of games that are tough for the starters to get up for and that is when the bench has to come in and play with their high intensity. Arroyo is playing to his strength now driving and creating rather than running the standard sets, its nice to see the smiles from the bench cause they know they are playin well and contributing, not just spelling the starters for a few minutes. This game will also be a sign of how far in the doghouse Darko is....if he doesnt get any time in this game? his days are over in Detroit, it will show that Flip has lost all confidence in him.
