Game Thread: Detroit @ New York

vs.

The Knicks and the Pistons played last night. The big story is obviously Antonio going into the stands to protect his wife last night in chicago. He was suspended for 5 games today by the league. So the Knicks are without Antoino and Marbury. LB had the Knicks playing good recently they had won 6 in a row before losing the last few. When it is all said it done it should be an easy victory for the pistons.

Re: Game Thread: Detroit @ New York

Im hoping to see more of the same from the Atlanta game, get the bench in and let them continue to get chemistry and game situation practice.

I am officially nicknaming Carlos Arroyo "The Wrench". Throw him in, and watch your offense come to a grinding halt.

Not a big fan of Arroyo? I think Arroyo is a decent back-up PG.

123 assists.
32 turnovers.

10.6 assists per passing turnover.

Not too shabby, if you ask me. It has been a while since we brought him in, but give him a little more time to learn how to play a halfcourt game. It just isn't something that comes naturally to him. In a few years wth this same system we could see him really getting comfortable, really doing some special things...

I'm heading over to the general forum, there should be a TNT Thursday Night games thread for me to annoy people in while I get myself good and drunk.

What can you expect, it was the usual Pistons blowout. These games are starting to get boring.

Re: Game Thread: Game #37: New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons

great game from the bench tonight, and Darko played with more hustle and energy than I think Ive seen from him yet. Delfino is impressing me nightly and Dyess and Arroyo seem to be making some chemistry out there. I think this unit will gel soon and we will have a solid bench by playoffs. I am very happy to finally be able to say that........

Re: Game Thread: Game #37: New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons

I think Arroyo doesn't deserve anywhere near as much hate as he gets. He is inconsistent at times (like with his stinker today against the Knicks) but offensively he manages to sometimes outplay even Billups when he plays out of the system. Not sure if it's a great thing to only excel outside of the set plays but so far it hasn't worked out too bad for him.

Darko came out with some energy today. I think he's finally realized he's going to have to look like he gives a damn to make it back into the rotation.

Re: Game Thread: Game #37: New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons

Well delfino didnt have the 20+ i predicted against boston yet, but he is getting more and more involved in the game and is even making a dent in the stat line.

Didn't see the game but i heard the 4th on the radio, sounded like the pistons had been toying with the knicks all night.

Here are the reason's people hate arroyo
- He crowds people on offense. Instead of spreading the floor out he tends to dribble very close to his teammates.
- He tends to hold the ball too long during the shot clock and then is forced to either dish it to dyess for a quick J (not a bad option) or make a fantastic play which he sometimes does but more often kills the offense.
- He goes for the flashy pass not the efficient one too often (see above)
- Sometimes he plays completely out of control

That said he brings a completely different element to the pistons when he is in the game. Some of the things he does have been irritating me lately but I still believe he is helping us more than hurting us(you wouldn't know it when i'm yelling at the tv screaming something like 'christ put ****in delfino at the point!'). I think where chauncey has flourished in flip's offense, arroyo might need a tighter leash.

Re: Game Thread: Game #37: New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons

My problem with Arroyo is he's the only guy on the team who doesn't give the ball up. My problem with him is the same problem I have with players like Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis. He's only looking to make scoring passes. He refuses to make the non scoring pass. You'll never see him just bring the ball up, pass it to the wing, and then go to the other side of the floor. I don't know how many times a game he ignores an open Delfino or Evans on the wing so he can crowd one side of the floor and force a pas sinto McDyess. He wants to make every play himself and while you get padded assist totals doing that it just kills everybodies rhythm.
