Re: Game Thread: Game #39: Minnesota Timberwolves vs Detroit Pistons
Trenton Hassel really looks shorter there than I thought he was, I say we post up Rip on him all night long. ;-) ;-)
In all reality I hope we win this. I looked at it as a potential loss before the month started.. but on the heels of a very tight game against Tracy McGrady, the Pistons could be motivated to re-establish their dominance in light of potential questions that may have come up in the media following the T-Mac game.
Predicting a solid, but not blowout, win.

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but why does WDFN block their audio by game time? And do anyone know if there is any radio feed from a Minnesota station for this game?
Re: Game Thread: Game #39: Minnesota Timberwolves vs Detroit Pistons
wooo i loved the lineup at the end of the game...that Amir windmill was SICK! And he had a huge block on the other end. Believe it or not, i liked what i saw out of Darko tonight, made a nice shot, and despite two turnovers both were preceded by nice moves to make himself available to either pass or shoot if I remember correctly. Gotta love Chauncey's 2nd half, he came out gunnin after a tough 1st half.
The whole team looked great, especially liked Mo and Dyess off the bench...if we continue to play like this I can't see us getting beat...ever

Re: Game Thread: Game #39: Minnesota Timberwolves vs Detroit Pistons
I saw the Darko-Amir-Max lineup whilst eating my Wings at Frickers and was so excited I almost choked... well, that and the broken wingbone that lodged in my throat, but yeah.
With 3:20 or so left what happened? Did Darko travel? I noticed that he had the ball and passed up a decent jumper for a nice dish to Maxiell but as the ball went to Maxiell play stopped. Did Darko travel or what?
Also I guess he was called for an Offensive Foul with just over a minute left, sucked. I liked the dish to Max down low that Max couldn't handle, Max didn't even see it coming, which was too bad.
Amir Johnson was beautiful out there. Seriously. Even before the great hustle steal Darko made and the dish for the windmill... when he came right in and absolutely BARRELED through a Minnesota player? That was GREAT! He just inserted his shoulder and set a precedent, after that it looked like the Minnesota frontline was a little intimidated by his aggressiveness.
So was Dale Davis inactive tonight, with Amir Johnson in those horrible road reds? If so, AWESOME. Davis hasn't been giving us anything and I am extremely happy to see Johnson getting playing time out there, especially with the power he showed tonight.
What exactly was the lineup there at the end?
Was it...
Arroyo-Evans-Milicic-Johnson-Maxiell
Or...
Arroyo-Evans-Johnson-Maxiell-Milicic?
Because I could see Johnson at either the 3 or the 4. Darko at either the 3 or the 5. Maxiell at either the 4 or the 5. Either way it looked very interesting putting Milicic in there with his finesse play offset by the aggressive play down low, it really opened things up for Milicic's passing and shooting skills off of the pick. He doesn't quite have Sheed's pick-n-pop down yet, but he's getting there.
Anyway I only got to see the game after work from about the midway point of the 3rd Quarter on, and I swear I didn't see anything but three-point attempts for eight straight minutes, I didn't look up and see a dunk, short jumper, layup... nothin but treys for a long stretch! It was pretty amusing to me. Couldn't really get a good guage on how the team played, but they looked good and loose out there to me.
Glad to see my prediction of a solid win came true, only one loss thus far this month.
Thus far this season we've seen 3 losses in November, 2 losses in December, and so far 1 loss in January... Seriously, if the trend DOES continue we won't see another loss this month and the entire month of February will be undefeated... that would be a REMARKABLE winning streak.
... Yeah right. HAHA... We can wish, eh?

Re: Game Thread: Game #39: Minnesota Timberwolves vs Detroit Pistons
Again a solid game by the bench and all around good second half by the team. I was glad Amir got some minutes and he showed why Joe D took him, he is quick and he can jump. I also was impressed with Darko out there tonight again he showed some nice improvement, I still think he shoulda shot the first one but I can see why he passed it up tryin to get the rooks a easy shot. Darko is an inegma because he shows good judgement in making the extra pass and having good court vision for a young big, nice touch when he takes a shot in rythm instead of rushing or forcing it, then he'll turn around and play like he doesnt care at other times. If he could just keep up the intensity and keep his head on straight he will crack the lineup for minutes. If he continues like he is I wouldnt hesitate to play him over Davis. And eventually he could help spell either Wallace for short stretches, If only he would continue with his energy.....

I agree, my only gripe with Darko tonight was that he was slow getting back down court on offense, but he was right there for the most part on defense.
Also, Froggy, thanks for clarifying on the 3-second thing, no sound on the TVs in Frickers so I had no clue WTF happened.
