A little curious, but I am looking forward to Amir and Max more. I dont think Alexs upside is as good but he will hopefully be a fill in role player while we locate a better fit.

Hell yeah. After what Dumars and Miller said about him he could be better than Arroyo was for us (since Arroyo played below his ability).

A rookie from Pepperdine, Acker hasn't made his NBA debut. He has been on the active roster for a couple games this season, but he might be closer to playing now. A roster spot is open after the trade that sent Darko Milicic and Carlos Arroyo to Orlando for Kelvin Cato and a draft pick.

Acker said after Monday's practice in Auburn Hills that he received a phone call from Joe Dumars during the All-Star break. Acker was back home visiting former teammates at Pepperdine and family in California.

"Joe Dumars has talked to me," Acker said. "He said, 'Here's your opportunity right here.'
