Re: Whats happening to the Pistons?

I haven't seen them put together a complete game(great offense+defense) in quite a while. It's easy to say they're bored, but it's even easier to see they have no depth and their best players love the outside shot a little too much. Lack of depth and too many jumpshots will ultimately be the reason Y they won't win the championship again. Flip Saunders' teams have always been too perimeter oriented and we know where he went with that style of ball in the postseason.

Re: Whats happening to the Pistons?

I wouldn't go as far as saying they are in a slump but they definetly aren't playing their best basketball. The laker game they were coming off a back to back and seems like they just ran out of gas in the end. I am not to worried about it.

pistons just came off their one of many 7 games in 10 nights. they have the most back to backs at 17.
when a team has had that rocky of a schedule their bound to fall down a negative path.
dont panic they still have the best record dispite having 7 more back to backs then the spurs who are second of them in record season best who they spanked twice!
it only looks like everyone is playing better because if you look at everyone else'sschedule pistons have had the toughest with no days off to prepare for the next game
this week will be good for the pistons and it will help them get back on track again.

Re: Whats happening to the Pistons?

It honestly seems like we go on these losing streaks when we play 4 games in 5 nights or 7 in 10 games. I'd just chalk it up to fatigue like so many others have. I'd still be a little more comfortable if we found a way to get our bench more minutes, but we've been saying that for two years.

Re: Whats happening to the Pistons?

Why is everyone worring. I mean as soon as Tony Delk gets used to his surroundings we are going to utilize our bench much more and 1! more thing last year we made it to the finals without a bench and this year we are way deeper so yeah...

Re: Whats happening to the Pistons?

I would chalk it up to Flip underusing the bench and having the starting 5 log heavy minutes, they fatigue and stop going inside, and anyone that has played knows when you are tired you dont get the same lift on the jumper. When youre fatigued you dont do the hustle plays and get to the loose balls.....and what really concerns me? rebounding.....man with Ben and Sheed we shouldnt lose that many rebounding wars. Yet Sheed regularly plays on the perimeter which takes him away from the glass which leaves Ben all alone to board. Hopefully Flip shortens the starting 5 rotation and lets the bench pick up some extra minutes.

The Pistons returned from their week-long trip Sunday and went immediately into hibernation.

Coach Flip Saunders hoped the break would rejuvenate his tired team before the season's final stretch that begins with practice today and a game against Chicago on Wednesday.

All along, Saunders knew the Pistons would have three tough stretches this season: the opening 18 games, 12 of which were on the road; the stretch before the All-Star game, when the Pistons played five of eight games on the road, and their recent trek, with eight games in six cities in 12 days.
