Re: NBA Playoffs 2006 (Round 2) Detroit Pistons vs Cleveland Cavailers/Washington Wizards

I think I would rather go up against the Wiz...I know that beat us 3 times in the regular season but the one time that CLE had Hughes they poped us by 13 and stopped our ten game winning streak.

I like the fact that Washington does not have anything off the bench that is really effective. Cleveland can bring Flip off the bench to generate a quick spark and a scoring punch, Marshall to stretch the defense and attack the boards, Damon has the ABILITY to get hot and knock down open shots when the defense collapses on LB and Veriejo just wants to get physical with everyone...I do not see Washington being able to match the intensity of the Pistons. They will come in expecting it to be the "regular season" Pistons and will get crushed...

Either way this series is done in 5 lol

Re: NBA Playoffs 2006 (Round 2) Detroit Pistons vs Cleveland Cavailers

Damon Jones just won it for Cleveland so we will be seeing them at the Palace on sunday. I am happy to see the cavs because I think they are the easier matchup for Detroit. The cavs have Lebron and the refs but not much more.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2006 (Round 2) Detroit Pistons vs Cleveland Cavailers

I was hoping for a few extra days rest to ease and soothe some achy players. I guess we'll have to try to put the hammer down a bit more and try to kill the Cavs early. I wouldnt imagine the defensive scheme will be much different than the game plan for Redd. I think we'll see a dose of Rip, Tay and probably even a little Delfino on him. Force him to shoot it rather than pushing up on him and giving him the crease he needs to get to the hole.

I think it was the perfect amount of time. The guys had thursday off and practiced today and tommorow. If we had to wait till tuesday I would be worried about the guys being rusty.

I rather have Cleveland . Larry Hughes has played poorly since coming back from his injury, he played poorly vs the Wiz and we all know how that defense is.
The Pistons seem to struggle more vs shooters more so than slashers like Bron. While Bron hits amazing shots from time to time, he's not as dangerous out of the paint. The Pistons have played Bron very well in regular season by taking jam the paint approach and force low pecentage shots. The Cavs offense is pretty basic as well. They run some pick and roll with Big Z and alot of isolaion with Bron on the strong side
Stay on Z on the pick and roll waiting for Bron to kick it back to him. Keep Bron from getting to the basket, and get ready to jump out and defend the wing 3 ball.

The Wizards are alot harder, Arenas can dish shoot and drive. They run alot of baseline curls with their athletic big men to cut to the basket, against he Pistons that forces our bigs to step out a little and opens it up to drives by the gaurds, and if they don't follow enough it usually goes to Buter who gives Tay trouble one on one. They also jack up terrible shots from long range while packing the lane. Cutting off our chance to get defensive rebounds. Something that troubles the Pistons.

neither team plays good defense. Wiz play better offense. Logically, I want Cleveland.

I can see this as a sweep or just a five game series. Lebron can bring it, but can anyone else on the Cavs (at least consistently)?

Can we have the box that shows how much each player averaged during the season against their respective team?
