2006 Report Card - Ben Wallace
I feel that we didn't get out of Ben Wallace what we would have hoped for. This season his best games were only reflections of how he used to play every game earlier in his career. He seems like the type of player who's attitude would never be in question, but I'm afraid it is, it's not like he ever relied on a lot of skill that may have deteriorated. Simply put, whatever fire Ben Wallace had has faded.
I would have to give Ben Wallace a 2 out of 5 for the season. His rebounding and blocking averages are as low as they've ever been in Detroit. Those are two things that Ben Wallace is expected to contribute, and without them, he's useless to our team. And he quit on us when it mattered most, in the playoffs.

I might not be a hard core Piston fan, but from what I saw from Ben. I said it was meh. He was average at best. I don't know what happened to him.
I have a question, if you had kept Darko and Okur, would you still be resigning Ben?

I can't be quoted but i was lookin n him block have gone down the last 5 years i think n his rebound the past 4. Like i said don't quote me but it's close enough. I'm feeling much to lazy to look it up. I can't see him doing ne more then repating this season performance next year. I hate myself for thinking this but it might be time to sign and trade him n take what we can from it. I have a feeling his contract is gonna be far to large and/or long. I think it may burt our regular season record, but honestly you wouldn't have to be a top class center to provide what ben did alot of games. Having a decent scoring treat center is crazy to me cause it seems like all I can think of is Ben in that role. Im ****in pissed to say is effort is far from what i expected of him. That broke my heart cause what is Ben without heart i mean ****. I hate talking about this so i'm gonna leave it there. I won't be mad if he comes n proves me wrong next season though...that's what i would love

Ben Wallace is probably my least favorite Piston ever...if he wants to be a max contract player he better learn to score...

Ouch, and a rating of one to boot. Has this always been the case? Or is this a fairly new development stemming from the playoffs?

Re: 2006 Report Card - Ben Wallace
Free throw shooting was inexcusable, but other than that he was about the same as usual. I don't think what he does stands out as much when the team struggles and when we've been seeing the same or better in prior years. When the team looks good he will too. If he doesn't get back up past 50%, I don't want him back if it is going to cost too much and want his minutes decreased.

Re: 2006 Report Card - Ben Wallace
I do think going against Shaq made him look worse than he was, but I think I've felt since last year that there was a noticeable drop in his play. He does need more touches on offense because that's when he plays better, but he needs to bring that all out energy that he used to play with every game as well.

the thing about his free throw shooting is that
he doesn't even seem like he's trying to improve

No. The thing is he CAN'T. He has a problem with his wrists which causes his shot to be released differently every single time he shoots, which eliminates having a consistent stroke.

Re: 2006 Report Card - Ben Wallace
personally he might have that problem with his wrist but the dude doesent even try he stands like a foot away from the free throw line next time you see a bulls game he gets fouled and goes to the line watch him and how far he stands
