Re: "I want to leave Detroit, but they don't let me go" - Carlos Delfino
With the recent lineup changes, I don't see how Delfino doesn't get minutes.
Quote:
n June, Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars spoke with Delfino about whether he wanted to remain with the team. Delfino told Dumars his preference would be to stay in Detroit, but if head coach Flip Saunders didn't want him or if he wasn't going to play, a trade might be the best thing for both parties.
Team officials assured Delfino there would be more opportunities to play next season, after several roster changes were made.
"In our face-to-face meetings, he has given us every indication that he wants to play in Detroit, that he doesn't want to be traded, and that he wants to be the best NBA player he can be," John Hammond, Detroit's vice president of basketball operations, said on Monday. "We fully expect him to come in and be a player that will contribute this season."
The Pistons are not that concerned about Delfino's comments to La Nacion. It's one thing for a player to spout off in July. It's a totally different matter if he's making the same comments when training camp begins in October.
"If he says he thinks he should be somewhere else, then I'll be calling you guys together and say, `We just made a trade,' " Dumars said earlier this month. "It's simple. It's not a gray area for me. It's black and white."

blown out of proportion.
Carlos has got to stop talking or saying anything remotely close to what he is being quoted as saying. Maybe he's venting but he's got to be just be consistent.

Re: "I want to leave Detroit, but they don't let me go" - Carlos Delfino
I don't see how the Pistons people can come out and say anything explaining Carlos Delfino's reactions. Their only responsibility is to play him, there's nothing they can say that will fix the situation, including promising minutes, because it's been done and failed.
I won't believe it until Delfino gets a spot in the rotation and keeps it.

Yeah, Dumars said the exact same thing last year when Delfino was upset. This time is different in the direct promise of minutes for Delfino.

Re: "I want to leave Detroit, but they don't let me go" - Carlos Delfino
You can work a little trade here... what's your thoughts?
Detroit trade Carlos Delfino to Washington and Amir Johnson to Sacramento;
Washington trade Jarvis Hayes to GS;
GS trade Zarko Cabarkapa to Seattle;
Seattle trade Danny Fortson to NJ;
NJ trade Jeff McInnis to Seattle and Zoran Planinic to Detroit;
Sacramento trade Ronnie Price to Washington;
Zoran can play as your backup combo guard, and have an expiring contract... And in case he want to go to Europe, you can try to buyout him.

That trade is just plain AWFUL for detroit.
This is the same Paninic that the Nets are trying to give away? And are trying to buy out as well?
Most of us feel, i think rightfully so, that Delfino could be a starter in this league and Amir could even be a star in this league. Trade that for one year for a player that nobody wants?

I agree with md, I'd rather take them out behind the barn and shoot them than do that trade.

I just think in this trade because Delfino wants to go... so, you trade him for a player that is more likely to a buyout...

Horrible deal, I want to keep both Amir and Delfino. Amir is still about a year away from playing, but Delfino deserves pt now.

How can you call 2nd round draft picks 'stars' For every Manu Ginobili, Louis Williams, Gilbert Arenas, there are a million scrubs.

Re: "I want to leave Detroit, but they don't let me go" - Carlos Delfino
Delfino just faced off against Darko in world play. http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/wbc200...ory?id=2547269
Quote:
Sakota's young team established an early lead and won convincingly with Rakocevic and Milicic providing the inspiration. Rakocevic, who has taken over the captaincy from the retired Dejan Bodiroga, made four 3-pointers. Milicic, a forward for the Orlando Magic, added nine rebounds.
"We have a young team and a lot of players haven't played in a World Championship, but it's good to see that they are finding their form," Sakota said.
Carlos Delfino of the Detroit Pistons scored 16 points and Luis Scola and San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili added 11 apiece for Argentina, which shot just 30 percent (20-of-66) from the floor.
"Right now I want my players to be at about 70 percent and they're not yet," Hernandez said. "But I know they can play a lot better."
Delfino's four-point play helped Argentina cut a 13-point deficit to 35-29 at halftime. However, Serbia had an 8-0 burst to start the third quarter, when Milicic made all four of his shots and scored 10 points.
