BEN WALLACE GONE: Pistons done competing for a ring in 06-07
I really think they're done competing for a ring in the 06-07 year. Unless they sign a decent big man..count them out.

Methinks you're about a couple of months behind on your news. In case you didn't notice (seeing as how you JUST got around to seeing Wallace left, this may be on your radar in a week or so) we signed Nazr Mohammed. Whilst not as good on defense, he is head and shoulders above Wallace on offense. Okay, maybe just head above. Not shoulders. But still, he may actually turn out to be an upgrade in the offense oriented new NBA.
We're in fine shape, doubter.

Lol, I'm not behind on news. I guess if you consider Mohammed a decent center to start, Im behind.
But, that's just my opinion.

The Piston's will still be a VERY good side. Billups, Hamilton, Prince and Rasheed is still very very tough competion. Don't go counting them out.

The fact that the team that plays in the state in which you happen to reside has won a championship does not make you have more to say as a basketball fan than a fan of a team that has not. There are better ways to kill his argument than to bring that into it.
Nazr can be an adequate replacement for Ben. The question marks I have are: 1) Whether Flip can pick up the pieces of negativity after Ben left, if there even is any, and 2) Whether or not Flip can bring them back to playing the defense that they need to play in order to win a championship. It wasn't happening with Ben in there, so losing him is not as horrible as it would seem. The guy is on a downturn in his career, and I think the Pistons will be patting themselves on the back in two years when they see what he's doing and how much he's being paid to do it.

Me too, this is still a very tough team and Billups is still in the backcourt so they should be pretty darn good this season.
