Richard Hamilton on Ben Wallace and the Pistons in 06-07

Quote:
With analysts predicting a drop-off, can the Pistons remain a title contender? "Aw, man, I love when people talk like that. It motivates us. I think we play better like that. Like I said, Ben was a great piece, a big piece to what we had, but we still have guys on the team who know how to win. There's gonna be no slippage. We've only been here for three years. That's what people forget. People say, 'Your run's over.' I'm saying, 'You're talking about teams that've been together for 10 years -- we've been together for three.' So the sky's the limit still for us. We've got a rude awakening for everybody."

Good to hear something. Waiting for pre-season is extremely painful. 2 months to go...

I just love that the Pistons always act as if they have a chip on their shoulder, whether it actually exists or not. Every year, people keep counting them out (last year a lot of analysts I read didn't think they'd break 50 games) I especially love when you can see the fruits of their offseason work (see Rip leading the league in 3PFG% this last year). 2 more months...

Damn it, I'm so bored. I won't care about the World Championships until the exhibitions stop. I haven't gotten to the point of watching the WNBA in desperation like some people I know have, though.

Remember how Detroit was supposed to be a pretty weak team in the East last year? I loved it so much when we had that amazing opening half to our season. We didn't get it done in the end but we proved everybody wrong in the process. Who saw us with the best regular season in the league? We were going to be at best 3rd in the East after the Heat and the Pacers.

Re: Richard Hamilton on Ben Wallace and the Pistons in 06-07

Not to mention the Cavs. They added Larry Hughes (a real SG), Donyell Marshall, and Damon Jones ( both three point threats). Along with the continued development of LeBron, a couple people were saying they had 55-60 win talent. Other than LeBron, all their free agent signings were pretty disappointing, at least last year.

I don't think very many people predicted the Pacers to implode last year, but I figured their fortune was sunk with or without Artest for some reason.
