When things go wrong for the Pistons, as they did in the playoffs last season, nobody seems to take it harder than Antonio McDyess.
McDyess is the only returning rotation player without a championship ring. And after the Pistons' breakdown last season, the team's sixth man was convinced he'd never get another chance to win one.
"The whole time," he said Friday, recalling his mind-set in June, "I was like, 'This is it. I don't think I'll ever get there again.' "
Now, with exhibition play finished and with five days until the Pistons open the regular season against the Milwaukee Bucks, the 32-year-old's hope has been restored.
"I feel we've got a pretty good chance again," he said.
