Save Sheed and the NBA
If anyone here is upset about the new No Tolerance Tech rule and all the other rules Stern has been implementing as of late, there is a petition being signed and sent to David Stern on the site www.need4sheed.com
Head over there and sign it and leave your comments.

Re: Save Sheed and the NBA
The NBA needs this rule. This is the best change the NBA has made in a long time. When did it all of a sudden become tolerated (let alone encouraged) to whine like a baby on the court? There's no way I'm signing this petition.

Re: Save Sheed and the NBA
Any petition that comes from a website that is called need4sheed automatically loses any objective credibility it might have had with David Stern. What need4sheed calls emotion and flair in regards to Sheed, most NBA fans call childish antics and lack of self-control.

Do you expect fans to sit in our seats and not make a peep when our team wins a game on a buzzer beating shot? No we can't its the excitement of the game, we can't help but root for our team. If we can't keep quiet how do you expect a player to in the heat of battle?
|
That is by far one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

I'm in favour of watching grown ups not acting like my nine year old cousin in a game of Mario Kart.
Sports have tonnes of emotion, that doesn't just vanish because the league decides to cut down on players crying about whistles.
Have you ever heard the phrase shut up and play?

First of all how does it lose credibility? Its a fan site if you didnt notice. What would you prefer it to be called? and second Who are most nba fans anyway? tell me that I would like to know who "most nba fans" are.

This is the most illogical thing I have ever read in my life. Since when did the NBA ban players from cheering when they win a game at the buzzer? Stupid.

I will answer your question with another. Have you ever heard the phrase just let them play the game?

People with a passion for the sport of basketball. If you watch this game for the crying and 'emotion' then watch a Soap Opera. Professional athletes have been scrutinized enough as being a bunch of prima donnas. Here's there opportunity to grow a pair, over the course of this season we'll see which players can actually grow a pair, and which players used to storm out of the room in tears when they lost a game of Nintendo.

Funny thing, I have!
Now definie game? Because I was under the impression that 'the game' was basketball, you know two ten foot nets, put the ball in the basket. Nowhere does it say anything about having a tantrum when you violate a rule... maybe we're talking about different games?

"Most NBA fans" referred to the many I've talked to on this board that are not Detroit fans and the many I know and associate with in person here in Phoenix. In my experience, most people don't consider it "emotion and flair" when Wallace wines to the refs like he does.
And...yes, I of course noticed it was a fan site. And that is part of the reason it loses credibility, because it is a Detroit fan site. It was not started by casual NBA fans who have a concern of the direction of the NBA. It was started by Rasheed Wallace fans with a heading of "Save Sheed". I'm sorry, but that is going to get this petition laughed at. It will be seen as a conflict of interest.
