Re: Game Thread: Pistons vs Hornets: Nov. 15/06
If we come out all lackadasical and lethargic again, the Hornets will steal one from us at home.

Re: Game Thread: Pistons vs Hornets: Nov. 15/06
Couple of days rest and hopely we've got Rip back with us.. Hornets started the season flying but I saw their game againts the Clippers last night and they sucked big time. It's still a dangerous team though. I'm really expecting the Pistons to handle this one and if that doesn't happen, I think we should start to get little worried...

Re: Game Thread: Pistons vs Hornets: Nov. 15/06
They're playing a back to back against us while we have several days of rest. There shouldn't be any excuses for not having energy in this game.
NO can be dangerous, and it's almost all Chris Paul. It's unbelievable how good he is for someone his age (hell, for anyone. He'll probably be the premier point guard in the league for years). There aren't any real holes in his game other than outside shooting. Chandler gives them a legit inside presence, but he picks up a lot of fouls. David West is a solidly above average player who could give us trouble inside. Peja and Bobby Jackson are streak shooters, and Jackson in particulary likes to chuck even when he's doing poorly (although he can get hot). They came out of the gate pretty well but they've stumbled in the last few.
I'm not making a prediction on this one, since I was wrong on all the other ones.

Will be a good game. If the defense can stop Paul, then this game is theirs. Paul shouldn't get in a flow or it will be a huge problem for the Pistons. The Pistons need to win this game due to that embarrassing defeat to GS

We need to stop Paul or this team plows over us.

Re: Game Thread: Pistons vs Hornets: Nov. 15/06
the strange thing is that we gradually morphed into this team that is really fearful of good offensive players, especially quick perimeter guys. The Pistons use to look forward to playing teams that had guys like that and liked the challenge of shutting them down

TONIGHT
New Orleans at Pistons, 7:30, FSN
Top priority is stopping point guard Chris Paul, last season's top rookie. Paul averaged 19.1 points and 9.1 assists in his first seven games for the Hornets. New Orleans won its first four before dropping its next three.

The skinny: After getting off to a franchise-best 4-0 start, the Hornets lost three in a row before bouncing back to beat Charlotte at home Tuesday night behind a career-high 42 points from free-agent addition Peja Stojakovic, including a franchise-best 22 in the first quarter. They did it without their second-leading scorer and rebounder, David West (17.4, 8.3), also expected to sit out against the Pistons with a right forearm injury. The Hornets will also be without Tyson Chandler, who suffered a concussion late in Tuesday’s game and did not travel with the team to Detroit. Dynamic second-year point guard Chris Paul (19.4 points, 9.1 assists) is the engine for a dramatically rebuilt team that includes center sixth man Bobby Jackson in addition to Chandler and Stojakovic.

What to watch: With West and Chandler out of the lineup, the Pistons are likely to be more intent than usual on pounding the ball inside early. Allowing dribble penetration has become a concern of the Pistons, and Paul is as good as it gets at finding his way into the lane. The schedule settles down a little for the Pistons now – five of their next six games are at home over a 10-day span. It’ll be important to get it off to a good start – and that means getting off to a good start in this game. Lindsey Hunter’s status is uncertain after twisting his right ankle in Tuesday’s practice, though Rip Hamilton is expected to play after missing two games with an elbow injury.

Hamilton is projected to start (according to Pistons.com) and West is out.
Stojakovic is coming off of a career high of 42 points.
