Chris Webber's effect on our team
Quote:
In the past few weeks, the Pistons have been a different team. A better one.
And that goes beyond the flexibility and wow factor Chris Webber's addition has brought to the offense.
For the first time this season, this team is playing like it's excited. The players look as if they are having fun.
That's an important change from the season's opening 10 weeks, when the Pistons rarely looked inspired or energized, two factors inherent in most championship-caliber teams. Although there were moments of greatness -- a fine win over Dallas on the road, a great team performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, a calculating win over the Cavaliers in Cleveland -- rarely did the players look like they were enjoying themselves.
After much success and so many years of sharing the floor together, the Pistons carried themselves with a case of been there, done that. For many fans, even the Pistons' best moments seemed stale.
It was worth wondering whether it was the team's desire to pace itself or whether such a blasé squad could really compete for a title.
That all changed with Webber's arrival.
Now, as Lakers coach Phil Jackson noted last week, the Pistons look enlivened, refreshed and rejuvenated.

Re: Chris Webber's effect on our team
We win when we have fun. With Webber do we ever not have fun? Championship!

Or when Sheeds mad. Basically, if we have energy out their, and we want to work for the team and not just for the sake of being there, then I don't think anyone can beat this team.

Re: Chris Webber's effect on our team
Of course Wabber is big factor for Pistons now... When Pistons didn't have him, they played not so nicely offensively and had more worse record than now... Now Pistons are playing nicely and Pistons have the biggest chances to win Eastern Conference title...

Re: Chris Webber's effect on our team
He's played better than I ever would have imagined for us. Our ball movement is better, and even though Webber's defensive reputation is bad, our defense hasn't missed a beat. I think the most important thing is that we're focused now. Before, we were sort of floundering around from game to game, and sometimes it was like we didn't care, but now we usually execute well on offense and we're able to keep focus on the defensive end.

Re: Chris Webber's effect on our team
Arnie is going to fix CWebb's ankle and that is the key for him. His knee isn't ever going to be 100 percent but he really screwed up how he ran while in Philly. Put way to much strain on his ankle. As that improves I would expect to see more of solid CWebb. As long as he doesn't touch the ball at the ends of games, the Pistons will be very tough to beat.

Re: Chris Webber's effect on our team
It is great to have C-Web in the mix. He has surely adds to the versatility of our team. It was a great pick up. This is the year for the Pistons. Ball don't lie!

Re: Chris Webber's effect on our team
If this isn't the year, I am a strong backer of the idea we blow this team up over the summer. It pains me to watch the Pistons play now and see every player complain... I understand and agree with Rasheed a lot of the time because I do think he is t'd up much more easily then any other player in the league. But Rip, Prince, Billups all complain and expect the ref's to be backing them up. Its a trait we have had for awhile now and was/is the main differance between the Bad Boys of Joe D and what we have now.

Re: Chris Webber's effect on our team
I think they should sign back Chauncey no matter what, even if they somehow lost in the first round. Let C-Webb go unless he agrees to sign for very little cash- bring Amir into the NBA and let him start at center. Maybe move Murray or Mohammed, but besides that- they should keep everything they way it is. The window of opportunity still has about three more years left in it, no matter what happens in the playoffs. Hopefully they win it all, but regardless- this core still has potential.
