Tiago Splitter has "the next Darko" written all over him. (And yes I have seen him play) I don't want him.

I've heard Tiago's name for two, three years in a row now. What's the deal with him?

Tiago Splitter keeps pulling out of the draft. From what I recall he used to be seen as a big prospect, but as he's gotten older the hype has kind of died down a bit.

He has failed to produce what his potential should be capable of overseas. He hasn't had that break out year that a top pick is expected to have after years of playing high level ball

Al Thorton from Florida State
Alando Tucker from Wisconsin
Brandon Rush from Kansas
Those are the 3 guys who can play SF and could be around when the Pistons make a pick. A lot of people are saying Thorton is the next Hakim Warrick but I don't know for sure. He is a late bloomer, going to be 23 soon, and a 4 year guy. Long and rail thin, similar build to Prince.
Everyone has probally seen a bit of Tucker but now because he is going to be winning a few of the college player of the year awards. He is only 6'5" but he has shown an ability to improve over time as his outside game has gotten much better. I wouldn't be suprised if he had that Jam Nelson type draft day nightmare and then turn out to be a solid NBA player although not a star like he was in college.
Rush is well like every other Rush we have seen before. He is young, 6'7" and has a frame that he can build on. He can jump out of the gym but needs a lot more experience and coaching. He would have the most upside as some have said he could be a Paul Pierce type in the NBA.

If anyone in here missed the Texas A&M vs Texas game, you owe it to yourself to go watch the highlights. Acie Law took over the game in the clutch AGAIN. Countless big shots. The Longhorns had to foul him to prevent him from sending the game into a 3rd overtime. A&M just had too much foul trouble to win the game. I would not pass up this kid.

I don't think he is a lock to declare this year. He is still considered by many to be an early 2nd rounder and I do believe he would only come out again if he was a lock for the first round.
I don't see the top end potential a few guys in the draft have in Afflalo but he has improved his shot and defend with the best of them in college.

Law has many game examples of how performs under pressure. It will be interesting to see if the nets him any move up in the Draft and into the lottery.

Re: The 2007 Draft should be on the back of our minds by now
Heh, nbadraft.net has us taking Brewer and Fazekas right now. Joakim Noah is also down to six right now, seems surprising given how high everyone was on him after the tournament. But I guess that just put more scrutiny on him, and he has had his share of crappy games lately. I saw him against Tennessee and LSU. Those were, uh, not impressive, to say the least. Brewer wasn't so hot in those games either, he must've had like 12 turnovers in those two alone.
It also has us taking Mustafa Shakur late in the second round. I've heard his name before, so he was probably hyped some. Did he bomb this year or something?

His team basically died as did his hype because of it.

Re: The 2007 Draft should be on the back of our minds by now
Brewer looked pretty good from the games I saw in the tournament. He's a really pesky defender, although he may gamble a bit much. He seems like a decent rebounder and seems like he could be great as a finisher in transition. His shot seems to come and go, and he's pretty scrawny still.
Still, his stock has been propelled after the tournament, so it's doubtful that we can get him with the Orlando pick unless he really does poorly in workouts or something. Unless Orlando goes into freefall (we can only hope). But oh man, Maxiell and Brewer would be insane off the bench.

There also is a chance that Brewer is done working out and shuts it down. I can't see him gaining anything and moving to a higher point in basketball minds then he is right now. Of course he will have to interview and do basic drills but if I am him, I maybe skipping the draft camp altogether.
