Re: The 2007 Draft should be on the back of our minds by now
I realize Webb may need a cash increase, but McDyess says he would rather retire than leave Detroit. I hope he isn't asking for the $$$. Bonzi would be a dream of mine. I love his game, and I'd love for him in Detroit. Letting Flip go is as easy as done from my point of view. Chucky is nice because hes a memorable face, but I think we need more of a creator & penetrator at the 1 off the bench. If he come cheap though I can't complain. Kinda like Tony Delk.

If Webb wants any type of cash increase thats the MLE. Dice can opt out so you never know, just because he doesn't want to leave doesnt mean he might want a longer contract. Either way those two should eat up the MLE one way or another. Flip has a player option for next year so we would have to either convince him not to take it (think he has increased his value this season?) or trade him. Delk would could be another guy who could be had for the LLE. At the same time a guy like GHill might want to come back for the LLE too. Lots of possible ideas this season for that.

Yeah, I'm really excited about our off-season. Mainly because of Grant Hill being free. What kind of 7 footer should we look at? Marc Gasol, Jason Smith, and Aaron Gray? It'd be nice for Hasheem to drop to us. He is very very raw, but we are a defensive team.

I take Hasheem over Thorton every day of the week. Not as a slight against Thorton but you don't pass up guys like Hasheem.
If we are picking a big at the end of round one, I think we need a legit center but we won't exactly get one. Fazekas would be the guy right now assuming we get a small or Thorton with the Orlando pick. He would need some work to be a center but he is a 4 year guy who can flat out score in the post. Reminds me of a Okur type but a bit more polished as a draft prospect due to more game experience. Glen Davis and Kyle Visser would be secondary options and Aaron Gray could be if he fell that far.

I'd be very happy with Thorton & Fazekas. That's not that hard to believe we could draft either. I'd love to have Glen. He'd be a great guy for any team, but his position is filled by Maxiell.

If Glen got into a bit better shape before the camps, he would get a serious look from the Pistons. At 310 pounds though, everyone will be thinking Tractor Traylor.

Hopefully we won't make a mistake similar to what Tractor's most known for (traded for Dirk). That and drugs.
If Webber is thinking of retiring after the season, we may have to start looking at centers (we may want to do this anyway). A lot of big man projects tend to flop, so I hope we use the picks wisely.

Davis isn't going to have much trade value initally so I doubt we have to worry about anything like that lol. Don't forgot money trafficing and heart issues though lol.
Webber is a guy I believe thinks he can come home to Detroit, win a championship, and then leave believing that he would have then restored his image in the area. If we were to go far yet not win, I think he much more likely to come back. A championship and I see him playing for the Lakers next season. With Davis leaving and who knows whats up Mohammad, I have to think its a lock that the Pistons walk out of this class with another big man.

Re: The 2007 Draft should be on the back of our minds by now
I don't watch college that much, but I like the idea of Thornton. I think he is likely to be a better player than Brewer. It'd be nice to get Conley but I guess he is out of our reach.
I even like the idea of Hasheem Thabeet, who NBAdraft.net compares to a stronger Mutumbo and has us taking. There are so many great options I'm sure we're going to be pretty happy with whoever we take.

yeah what I'd really like is conely, green, then Acie with the orlando pick. I hope at least one of them is still avaliable...I only mention Green n conley cause they were mentioned before I think they'll be gone long before we pick...but what the hell. Honestly I'd be really happy with Acie Law
