Another reason why I hate Charley Rosen
Quote from his latest column:
"Charley, I enjoy reading your takes on the NBA and its players. I would like your opinion on the tech-loving Rasheed Wallace. I contend that, as a power forward, he has as much talent as Nowitzki, Duncan or Garnett, but he is hardly the superstar they are. What gives with him? — Ra, Farmington, Mich.
To answer this one, I've got to break out the psychiatrist's degree I obtained by answering an ad in the back of a comic book. With that qualification (or disqualification), here goes:
Besides talent, there's a huge difference between winners and losers. Winners always play hard no matter what the score is or where their teams might rank in the standings. Accordingly, after a game, win or lose, winners are totally drained physically and emotionally. Wins quickly replenish their energies, but losses leave them empty and needing extra time to recover. Time to brood. Time to apportion, and accept, blame. Time to reconstitute their depleted psyches. What usually fuels their recovery is anger and frustration. Also, the desire for revenge and the prospect of kicking the stuffing out of the next team on the schedule.
On the other hand, losers always keep their sense of self intact by rarely (if ever) making an all-out effort for every play in every game. The very notion of risking even a temporary psychological annihilation is too frightening for them to consider — even subconsciously. After losses, their anger and frustration is bogus — or else directed at somebody else, most often the refs.
Rasheed Wallace is most definitely a loser."
He is talking about a guy that has been to four conference finals, two NBA finals, and is an NBA champion. Gee, that is true loser eh?
Why on earth is this guy allowed to author a mainstream column?
THis is the same guy that thinks KG is second rate. The same guy that thinks Indiana actually got the better of the trade with Golden State!
