Webber wants to return
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/column...arc&id=2931193
Quote:
Chris Webber has hinted at retirement more than once since last season ended, but I'm hearing now that he's much more interested in playing next season than not playing.
On two conditions.
Webber, 34, is apparently only willing to re-sign with his hometown Detroit Pistons -- who lost to Cleveland one step short of Webber's first-ever trip to the NBA Finals -- or join the Dallas Mavericks.
|
Now I am a huge Webber fan, but if he returning takes away from Amir & Max I have to be against it. He's still a smart player, but his defense has become non-apparent. He was so soft in the playoffs. We do need another center, but hopefully someone a little taller. Nazr isn't bad, and atleast he can play some help defense.
I say we try a line-up like this, and go from there.
Billups
Rip
Tayshaun
Maxiell/ Amir
Rasheed
Throw the kids into the fire, and let them play. We need it!

Re: Webber wants to return
No thanks. It's time for the young bigs to develop and Webber did NOTHING in the playoffs, a year older won't help that.

Re: Webber wants to return
My feeling is I'd rather have Webber starting than Nazr. Unless McDyess is going to be the starting center, I'd like Webber to come back, only in a 20-25 mpg role though.
I don't think Rasheed and Maxiell works in the front court. There would be major rebounding issues. I think Max could develop into a starting lineup caliber player, but it would have to be next to a stronger rebounder.

Re: Webber wants to return
I agree with Webber over Nazr, but it isn't by a huge amount. If Joe finds a SF that we could get in return for Nazr we can go ahead and sign Webber for 1.5M.

Re: Webber wants to return
I'm glad to hear he wants to come back just for sentimental reasons.
Webber over Nazr for me too. I'd definitely resign him.

Re: Webber wants to return
I'd start Webb over Nazr all day, it also would allow us some room to try n move Nazrs ****ty contract. You can't honestly say he did nothing in the playoffs he was inconsistent but he also had some great games we just can count on him producing every game. That sucks but we're not in a spot to do much about it

Re: Webber wants to return
Your team can try ship Nazr for Etan Thomas or maybe even Hedo Turkoglu...

Re: Webber wants to return
i think if webber wants a title, he should go to boston, phoenix, or dallas.
there are rumors of boston trying to talk to jalen rose, and dikembe mutombo
if jalen goes to boston then id bet that cwebb would also.
adding tumbo, cwebb and rose, with garnett, allen and pierce is hands down automatic nba champions...call it a year.

they would be a terrible defensive team besides KG and Mutombo
Jalen, Ray Allen, CWebb, and Pierce are all below average defenders
