McDyess to start?

According to McCosky. We will be seeing Dyess start up front with a 25 lb. lighter & motivated Roscoe.

He has come back to Detroit a month early to get a head start on his conditioning, something he hasn't done since his knee surgeries.The move makes sense on several levels. Wallace needs a high-energy player alongside of him, particularly early in games. We saw that last year, as the team consistently sputtered out of the gate with Nazr Mohammed and Chris Webber.

The problem will come when the Pistons face the few over-sized centers left in the league, like Shaq and Yao. Mohammed, it would appear, would be tapped for extra duty against those types of players (taking over the Dale Davis, Elden Campbell role of past teams).

Also by starting McDyess, it allows Jason Maxiell and Amir Johnson, the young guys, to provide the energy off the bench -- which makes sense. To accomodate Johnson's talents, the Pistons might have to turn that second unit loose. Because Johnson struggles in structured sets, Saunders may have to let loose the reins and allow Johnson, Maxiell, Rodney Stuckey and Jarvis Hayes to run and gun a bit. That will be fun to watch

I'm totally down for Dyess starting. If he's up for it. I don't really like Sheed at the 5, but with Dyess's D & rebounding next to him it should be tolerable. This should also open up a lot of PT for Max & Amir.

Nazr = Dale Davis 2008

Re: McDyess to start?

Sheed has played spot duty at center, and it didn't really go badly. He and McDyess are long and annoying, so they can be pretty good defensive deterrents against smaller frontcourts. McDyess is the logical choice here. He can handle 25-30 minutes a night, he was arguably the best Piston towards the end of the regular season, and he has done work this summer so he's not coming in ice cold, which bodes well. Maxey and Amir should replace his punch off the bench, and Nazr can stick around for mismatches and for spot duty on bulkier guys. A lot of this is contingent on Amir being productive at the NBA level, but I have a lot of faith in him.

Re: McDyess to start?

anyone eles abit scared by the whole run n gun bench? I'm not gonna lie I'm really excited by it but also quite scared. Ahh well I guess that's what the season is there for to see what works. Should be exciting though. If Dyce is up for starting i'm all for it thank god it's not Nazr! It's pathetic we can't even unload this guy
