Channing Frye

It looks like Portland is looking to move him, and hopefully save some cap. If Joe could pull this one off I would probably cream myself, but I do like Maxiell and Amir too much...

If you are refering to the Peter Vescey artile, consider the source. Kevin Pritchard has already sought out Channing Frye and told him the article was BS, and he is nor was in no way looking to move him.

Re: Channing Frye

Do the Pistons really need anymore PFs? Although, you guys could use a C if Webber retires.

Over Channing Frye? Frye really isn't that impressive right now, but he is ok and still has upside. But Portland would not want any of Detriot's scrubs. We already have a loaded roster, and will be adding Greg Oden and Rudy Fernandez next year.

Re: Channing Frye

I'd definitely rather have Amir Johnson over Channing Frye. Jason Maxiell would be a wash. Amir Johnson is a 7' PF with the athletic abilities of a SF. He has spent two years in the D-League after being drafted raw out of High School. Were he a rookie this year people would be salivating over his skillset, and he would be a lottery pick. As for Jason Maxiell: He plays with more heart and energy than Frye. He's less of a scorer and more of a defensive and rebounding specialist. He's stronger, and just as quick. I've watched Frye and I've watched our guys. Believe me, you hit it on the nose when you said "Frey really isn't that impressive ... " You didn't need the rest of that sentence.

Re: Channing Frye

The rest of my sentence was because Frye had a very good rookie year, but hasn't improved since then, and is actually a bit worse.

If you extrapolate his rookie numbers up to starters minutes 36 per game. He averaged 16.4 points 7.7 rebounds and 1 block. He also shot 48% and 33% from 3pt range. Pretty good for a rookie.

He doesn't seem to have much heart though...he's more of a softie. Certainly not someone to "cream" yourself over as the original poster said.

Re: Channing Frye

I agree with you there. Like I said I like Amir Johnson far more for obvious reasons, and you basically stated why I consider Jason Maxiell a wash with him: he steps outside where Jason bangs, he scores where Jason D's, and they both board on similar levels though I think Jason gets the hard to get junk boards more often. When it comes down to it I think Channing Frye has more ability, but Maxiell has a lot more heart.
