Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars announced today that the club has waived forward Sammy Mejia.

In six preseason games (no starts), Mejia averaged 1.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 9.0 minutes per game. He was drafted by Detroit in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft (#57 overall).

That's a little surprising, I thought they were gonna go with Meija and let Dupree walk. Ronald always seems to stick around despite having no tools aside from his athleticism. I wonder if he's somehow realted to Darvin Ham?
