Down 13 now...I have lost all confidence in this team, and I am so ****ing thankful that we don't play the Portland Mother****ing Trail Blazers any more this season. They'll sweep us.

Some Blazer "fans" can't let go of their hatred for Sheed. Just ignore it.

No need to troll. Sheed knows we beat them. Their fans know it, too. Part of being a winner is acting like a winner. Let the scoreboard do the talking. It says all there is to say. Our guys played inspired tonight and had the home crowd behind them. We got a good win over a quality opponent. That's more than enough satisfaction for me. Good luck to the Pistons and their fans... until we meet again.

You're welcome. Sheed may run his mouth a little too much for my tsate, but it does nothing to diminish the great respect I have for your franchise.
Last night we honored our Blazer teams from the early 1990s and it was fitting we did so against the organization that beat us in the 1990 finals. The thing I remember most about that great Pistons team was that even though they had some superstars, they also had great role players like Vinnie Johnson and James Edwards. Everyone on that team was willing to accept their roles for good of the team. Even Mark Aguirre, who had been a starter his whole career, a three time all-star and top 10 scorer five times, was willing to accept coming off the bench because they needed Rodman's defense with the first unit and Aguirre's scoring on the second unit. They also had a coach who was able to convince them all to accept their roles and knew how to get the most out of each and every one of them.
I also enjoyed watching the 2004 Pistons beat the Lakers. They proved that even in today's NBA, a great TEAM can beat a team full superstars (and super egos). That Pistons squad truly played as a team and put their egos aside to play together and win a championship. They didn't have a single player average more than 18 PPG, yet they totally dismantled that Lakers team and their roster full of superstars (four future Hall of Famers).
Our young Blazers share many traits with those great Pistons teams. Former starters Joel Przybilla and Jarrett Jack have accepted their new roles coming off the bench and have absolutely thrived. Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge (and eventually Greg Oden) are future all-stars, but they are also true team-first players who are more concerned about winning than their individual stats. These young Blazers are also starting to play the kind of tenacious defense that helped both of those Pistons squads win championships. They aren't there yet, but they have the right mindset, and the addition of Greg Oden next year will greatly improve the overall team defense.
Of course, I would have preferred that the Blazers had beaten your Pistons back in 1990, but I'm not bitter about the loss. The Pistons deserved to win and even 27 years later there are still valuable lessons to be learned from that early 1990s era Pistons squad.

Scoreboard may trump pregame trash talk... but STANDINGS trumps scoreboard. Your boys aren't there yet, it was painfully obvious from the opening tip that Detroit wasn't taking this game seriously. Frankly I hate it when they do that, they let too many young teams without their level of talent beat them. But you know what? We're 5-2, we have three more winnable games in this hellacious start (8 of 10 on the road) before we get to start playing in the Palace regularly and our record really begins to reflect our talent level.
Can't wait until we're healthy, Dice getting hurt and Amir still playing himself into shape after his injury. We'll see you later in the year boys.

You do realize we're 5-2 and in the middle of one of our most lopsided road-home stretches of the year with 8 of 10 on the road, right? If we go 2-1 in our last three games on this stretch we're 7-3, on pace for a 57 win season despite already getting out of our system one of our lengthiest road skids of the season.
And why would Sheed be garbage in two years? He just turned 33 but over the length of his time as a Piston he has had his minutes kept low to save his body. They aren't low because he needs less time on the floor, they're low so he can save his body for the years he has left on his contract. He's been maintaining a consistent level of play ever since he came to Detroit with no sign of wear and tear. He is still a defensive force. He also bangs less than most bigs, which saves his body from the pounding that most power forwards and centers take. Additionally the Detroit papers reported last week that he's one of the smartest players in the league with the ability to run any play out of the playbook from ANY position. Incredibly intelligent. Your statement has NO basis in fact and I consider your entire post dead weight.

Props to your veteran team for winning on the road, it's never easy. But, you have to admit you've beaten some real patsies on your way to that 5-2 start. Orlando is really the only tough team you've beaten so far. According to ESPN, your strength of schedule so far this year is ranked 26 of 30 teams. You've played 1-6 Miami, 2-4 Atlanta, 1-5 Chicago and 0-8 Seattle. Your opponents have a combined record of 18-30. But hey, 5-2 is 5-2.
The Blazers, who are the youngest team in the league, have also played the toughest schedule so far (strength of schedule = 1 of 30). They've only played one team with a losing record (Memphis). In fact, they've only played one team that has lost more than two games. They've played 7-1 San Antonio, 6-2 Houston, 6-2 New Orleans (twice) and 5-2 Detroit. Their opponents have a combined record of 31-13)
So, props to both teams for getting it done under tough circumstances (Detroit on the road and the Blazers against some of the top teams in the league).

And we can't wait to see a healthy Greg Oden. Unfortunately, that will have to wait until next year.
