Not really...I don't see why anyone would think he deserves it.
Best player on the 2nd best team in the league. He's the leader of that team. He's taught all the younger players how to play in this league and they've succeeded.

You really think Rasheed Wallace deserves an MVP vote over Kobe, Paul, KG, LeBron, Dwight, and Duncan?
I'd even probably put Nash, McGrady, Amare, Pierce, Manu, and Deron over him.
He got a 4 way tie for 14th most votes, 1 point.
Kobe 1100
Paul 894
Garnett 670
Bron 438
Howard 60
Amare 27
Duncan 25
and so on till Pierce, Sheed, Boozer and Jamison all got one point
Yeah I get that. I wouldn't vote him top-5 over the players I listed.
MVP voters historically place emphasis on victories. That he finds himself with the same amount of support as Jamison, Pierce, and Boozer (a mention) seems fine to me.
