Re: "I値l make a significant trade"

There's all kinds of banter over on the Blazer's board about Billups; the consensus seems to be that our GM should try to make a trade for him. Frankly I don't think Dumars would be interested in acquiring any of our players outside of Oden, Roy, and/or Aldridge, and those guys are definitely on the "untouchable" list.

Of course nobody actually knows what Joe Dumars would consider in a trade, but as fans what would you consider to be fair value or desirable acquisitions?

The most common suggestion from Blazer fans seems to be sending Raef Lafrentz's 12 million dollar expiring, the 13th pick, and one of Jarret Jack, Travis Outlaw, or Martell Webster ... personally I can't see that being enough.

depends on what direction this team is going. i doubt dumars wants to just blow things up and trade his veteran players for expiring and young players.

IMO billups is being undervalued due to his disappointing performance in the playoff. people tend to forget that he's one of the few PGs in the league that can give you solid performance at the PG spot. The dearth of quality PGs in this league alone would make billups signifant in a trade market. The criticism also seems to focus on his detriorating defensive ability. the pistons have been drifting away from that team defense concept so naturally it exposed billups as an average to poor defensive player. Also lets not forget that billups is reasonably locked up at 10 million per year for the next four years.

Also to mention about Billups its not that hes bad at defence its just that hes more of a combo gaurd size he has a tough time with the small pgs that are super quick. So naturally gaurds like tony parker, rondo tend to make him look like a worse defender than he is.
