Pistons Interested In Trading Hamilton

Quote:
The Pistons could be entertaining the idea of trading guard Richard Hamilton.

Detroit has already broken up part of their championship roster from earlier this decade, and Rasheed Wallace is expected to leave via free agency this summer.

The Pistons have sizable cap room, and one of their expected targets is free-agent shooting guard Ben Gordon.

What do Pistons fans think? Yay or nay? I believe in Joey D, I think if he really wants to start over he's going to have to dismantle his core and get some fresh faces on the team. If he does get traded who would you want to see the Pistons get in return? One scenario I believe that may be plausible at the moment is Rip for T-Mac + Filler. Opinions?

Re: Pistons Interested In Trading Hamilton

I have no idea what joe D has in mind, but i hope its not Ben Gordon. He doesn't play defense, when he's off he's useless, and he's not PG. Stuckey is already sort of a combo guard. If i was the GM, i'd move stuckey to the 2 guard, and find a legit pass first PG. My opinion of Stuckey as a scorer is way better than my opinion of him as a distributor. Right now i'd be looking for a big man. I honestly dont like many of the FA options. Okay this has got me thinking now. This would be my moves if i was in charge.

1. Prince for Josh Smith Straight up. Now i have PF.
2. Use cap space, draft picks to get get Richard Jefferson from the Bucks.
3. Move Stuckey to SG
4. Trade Rip for Rondo, and bad contracts. Rip expires before 2010 Free Agency, so boston gets to play, and still be a contender next year.
5. should still be about 10 or 12 mil under the cap. so go after Zaza AND Birdman

5- Birdman/Zaza
4- Smith
3- RJ
2- Stuckey
1- Rondo

... or Rip and his expiring for Kaman (who's at his best when the PF isn't a major back to the basket type, and Smith isn't) and Sign Andre Miller with the cap space.

5- Kaman
4- Smith
3- RJ
2- Stuckey
1- Miller

Edit- I just realized that both of those line-ups would be horrible 3-pt shooters. Absolutely terrible.

Re: Pistons Interested In Trading Hamilton

I like the Rip for Tmac trade, that's a valuable expiring.

They are going into rebuild mode, so it's not a shocker to see them trying to move Rip. If they get some big time cap space for the 2010 season they could really do some damage in free agency.

i wouldnt mind this

Rodney cannot play 2 guard, his offensive skills are very raw and he would be undersized at the 2, we definately need to replace Rasheed Wallace, Haywood is acceptable, hell even Kwame can be a starter i dont mind, just need a defensive anchor

i do not want Carlos Boozer, please Joe D dont let him in, hes the Ben Gordon of PFs
