Mmmmm Speculation
Okay I just heard of the whole thingy going down in Indiana and it got me thinking, so then I went to the other thread on this board and it got me thinking even more. What if Isaih DOES want to be our assistant coach. Seeing that Brown wouldn't mind working with him on the qualifying team then why would he mind in Detroit? Maybe he is secretley auditioning thomas to see if he is fit for the job? Maybe Joe D said see what you think of this guy?
That in it self would be pretty cool although I don't know much abuot him. Then some one mentioned what if Jermaine O'neal demands a trade. I am sure Detroit would be more then happy to have him. I went to realgm and started looking at salaries and we could ship Corliss, Chucky and Zelly for O'Neal. Sure the Pacers are getting ripped off but they are in no position to negotiate. Plus they get a prospect in Zelly who could and might turn into something big in the league. It's a gamble but then again Indiana is still in between a rock and a hard place.
RECAP
We get rid of...
Chuck 3.6 m
Corliss 4.5 m
Zelly 3.9 m
Total 12.0 million
We get...
Oneal 13.1 m
Since we are over the cap the 15 percent crap is invoked. All I know is that 12 times 1.15 equals 13.8 and according to my math skills, 13.1 is less then 13.8 so it should work. Real gm says otherwise though.
BUT
Jermaine just signed his big deal, you know the big one where the Pacers lied to get him to stay? Yea, that means that we can't access him until December 15. Darn. Is there any way around this???

You are reading my mind.
Carlisle gets his players, Pistons get another superstar.
PG: Billups/Hunter
SG: Rip/Sura
SF: J.O'Neil/Darko
PF: Big Ben
C: Memo/ Campbell
all 3,4,5 are able to play all 3 positions. (except Eldon)

you would have to think memo would be gone if there where ever a chance of happening which I really don't think there is...but I wish there was. Indiana wouldn't be in a great spot, but rest assure they could get alot more then chuck, chorliss, and Z. I would think Memo and the rights to sign Delfino would at least be part of the trade. Who knows thought I think it's a pipe dream, but I really wish it to happen. What an amazing team that would be!

blahh
I such at this! I tried forever to make a trade work and this was the only one I got to work
Detroit trades: SF Corliss Williamson (12.0 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.3 apg in 25.1 minutes)
C Zeljko Rebracca (6.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.3 apg in 16.3 minutes)
PG Chucky Atkins (7.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 2.7 apg in 21.5 minutes)
SG Hubert Davis (1.8 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.7 apg in 7.6 minutes)
C Mehmet Okur (6.9 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.0 apg in 19.0 minutes)
SF TayShaun Prince (3.3 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.6 apg in 10.4 minutes)
SF Carlos Delfino (3.3 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.6 apg in 10.4 minutes)
Detroit receives: PF Jermaine O'Neal (20.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 2.0 apg in 37.2 minutes)
PF Austin Croshere (5.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.1 apg in 12.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -11.8 ppg, -2.1 rpg, and -3.5 apg.
Indiana trades: PF Jermaine O'Neal (20.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 2.0 apg in 37.2 minutes)
PF Austin Croshere (5.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.1 apg in 12.9 minutes)
Indiana receives: SF Corliss Williamson (12.0 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.3 apg in 82 games)
C Zeljko Rebracca (6.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.3 apg in 30 games)
PG Chucky Atkins (7.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 2.7 apg in 65 games)
SG Hubert Davis (1.8 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.7 apg in 43 games)
C Mehmet Okur (6.9 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.0 apg in 72 games)
SF TayShaun Prince (3.3 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.6 apg in 42 games)
SF Carlos Delfino (3.3 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.6 apg in 42 games)
Change in team outlook: +11.8 ppg, +2.1 rpg, and +3.5 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
There were BYC players involved in this trade, so this trade is subject to the BYC provisions of the CBA. Due to Detroit and Indiana being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Detroit and Indiana had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I think we can let go of the J.O. thing because even if he did demand a trade Indy would never trade him here and if they did we would have to give up at least Ben or Rip...

The thread began with the idea of Isiah coming to the Pistons & J.O. demanding a trade to Detroit.
This would be the only way anything would happen.

Oh I see, but we would still have to give up one of those guys. Just because he demands doesn't mean it'll happen.

Yes.
Stranger things have happened when a player demands a trade.

I would say that is pretty much what happens when a player demands a trade.

I was thinking since O'Neal thinks so highly of Isaih that that would be why he wants to go to Detroit. If we did get JO then we would be able to contend, even in the West.

No way indiana would do this. A malcontent JO is still worth far more than the players offered. I was thinking though, what about this modification to the trade? On detroit's side add Darko, Okur, Hubert Davis and the rights to Delfino. On Indiana's side, add Artest and Pollard. The argument for Indiana accepting this is that Darko is a serious talent and Okur and Delfino are both excellent as well. The argument for detroit is that they are now serious contenders, this year. And because Artest is not an early bird, they will be able to exceed to cap to re-sign him next year, unlike Okur, who they would have no shot at re-signing if this deal went through due to JO's cap space.
Detroit's line up would be the following:
1 Billups Hunter Prince
2 Hamilton Sura Prince
3 Artest Prince
4 O'neal Pollard
5 Wallace Cambell
Looks like the best defensive team in the NBA to me, and some help rebounding and scoring as well. Bench isn't league's best anymore, but still decent. I'd take these guys against anyone, Lakers included. What do you think?
