Pistons Break Record
With the win over the Portland Trail Blazers, the Pistons streak of consecutive games allowing less than 100 points reached 34, eclipsing the previous record.

Oooooooh the West.
Western Conference teams have been just as unsuccessful in scoring against the Pistons as Eastern Conference teams have.
If you don't count overtime games you can add 14 games onto that streak as well.

They did it against a team in the west, and in 34 games, HAVE to had played at least a few Western Confrence in that span.

they've played 10 western teams this season, 6 of them have scored over 90 pts.
they've played 22 eastern teams, 4 of them have scored over 90 pts.
If you flip the 22 games in the east and the 10 games in the west around, it would be very likely that one of those teams scoring over 90 would hit 100.
6/10 west teams over 90
4/22 east teams over 90
do the math

Ok, that's cool and all, but they've also played 32 teams this year, and 0 of them have scored 100 points, regardless of conference. So all your numbers show is they would give up 90 point games more frequently.

all my numbers show is they couldnt do it playing in the west because they have struggled to keep the majority of west teams they've played under 90. If they had played 22 west teams instead of 10, it is probable that they wouldnt have the record. Its like winning the scoring title on a bad team. It is a good accomplishment though. Kudos to them.

It might be a little harder to do in the West, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't have. They've played the Lakers twice and the Kings once this year so they've proven they can limit high scoring teams as well.
Besides, the team with the second longest active streak is San Antonio with 16 games, and they are in the West, so it's not like teams can't have defensive success in the West either.

I mean theres no way to prove whether they would or wouldnt have done it in the west, but its much harder in the west. That was what I was saying in my first post "lets see em do it in the west" because doing it in the west would make it a great great accomplishment. I'm sure SA could do it...but only because San Antonio is a consirably better defensive team than the Pistons IMO.

Then I guess the real question is how much longer will the streak last. If they can keep it up for 10 more games than I don't think there will be any questioning the conference they are in.
And we could have a whole thread talking about Detroit vs San Antonio defensively but I'll leave that one alone for now as I am off for New Year's shenanigans.

Congrats to the Pistons
But, once again, with 29 teams instead of 23 or 18 or 14, one can expect team records to mount up.
