i am curious as to which direction are the pistons going to go in the future. are they going to be an eastern conferance type team that patterns themselves after the knicks or the heat of the 90's or do they become a western conferance team like the kings or the spurs? if they are going to be a grind it out team then what sense does it make to be bringing all these foreigners like okur/darko/delfino in? i think its pretty clear that the teams i have mentioned from the western conferance are far superior to eastern conferance teams but is this something larry brown can live with. i wonder if joe dumars and larry brown have the same vision for this team. anyone have an idea on this?
From what I remember Dumars saying during last years NBA Draft, or shortly afterwards, was that they wanted to increase the tempo and become more of a full court team instead of a half court team. We are the youngest top 10 team in the league. I think our average age is like 25. So the players will definetely have the energy to play full court.
I have seen this so far in the two Detroit games I have watched this year, they're running a lot more. Their best offensive plays were still executed during their half court press, but the team style is changing.
It will be pretty sweet to have us running a full-court run n gun team offense! If Darko can turn into a scorer then it will be even better, you guys say he is pretty fast so that's a good thing. We will be the only Eastern team that will be able to contend with the West.
I think with those players and the hope that they develop like they're supposed to we will become a good running team. But, I don't think we'll ever move to a up-tempo offense. I think LB would much rather get it down to Darko (and hopefully Memo) and grind it out than becoming strictly a running team. Even though I thinks he likes for his team to run occasionally.
I don't see Larry Brown as our coach in the days that Darko is a dominant offensive force. For some reason I think Brown will keep bringing him along slowly but it won't be untill we have a major change for Darko to be trusted with the torch.

Could be... I think Dumars if he truly sees greatness in Darko, will pick him over LB.
