Rip

Hey all,
Just want to say that it seems like Rip Hamilton has become one of the most underappreciated players during this year. I remember back when he was traded for Stackhouse. Boy did that trade end up in the Pistons favor.

He's possibly the Pistons most consistent scorer (certainly the most consistent in the backcourt), very good FG% for a guard, and has one of the best mid-range games in the leage.

Besides all this, it seems like he's become a pretty good defender (though I haven't seen many Detroit games, I can tell he's playing a lot better D than he did in Washington), and he's never hurt team chemistry.

Yet despite all this, he gets no press. Detroit's defense will always be stellar, but Rip will need to continue to offer consistent scoring for the Pistons to make a title run.

Just giving Rip his props.

Rip Hamilton certainly has done great things for us and everybody here appreciates him but you are right when saying he doesn't get enough reconition. The same could be said for Billups in my opinion but staying on the Hamilton topic I have to say he seemingly hits all the "must-hit" shots. At least the ones that I have watched. I love this guy and am glad we booked him long term last summer.

Rip is one of my favorite players but he hardly seems consistend (unless the Detroit back court is so inconsistent that you you can make the claim).

This is a great post about Rip, it is so true, he is fun to watch especially when you just watch him on the off, he makes things look so easy

I think it's fun to watch Rip just run around without the ball. He is so quick and shifty, I have yet to see anyone who can stay with him (including Ron Artest), he just jukes everybody out of their shoes.

His game is so different from just about every player in the league. Almost every high scoring guard you see gets their points by isolating and playing a 1 on 1 game. Rip is more like a wide receiver, he finds his shot without the ball in his hands and then when he gets it the pass comes and he knocks down that sweet 15 footer.

I think any point guard would love to play with, he never really needs the ball in his hands, he just runs around and gets open, and then you just pass it to him and get credit for an assist when he did all the work.

His ability to score without dominating the ball is something a lot of NBA players could learn from.
