LENOIR-RHYNE to play DUKE
Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Basketball Team will face Duke University in an exhibition game. L-R Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Neill McGeachy announced today the contest will take place on Wednesday, November 5, at 7:00 p.m., at storied Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.
The Bears, who finished 23-7 last season, won the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship in 2007-08 and advanced to the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional Semifinals.
The Blue Devils went 28-6 last year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Lenoir-Rhyne is coached by John Lentz, who just finished his 22nd season as Bear mentor and has compiled a 402-301 mark.
Duke is led by 28-year Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Krzyzewski has put together a 730-208 record with Duke and has an 803-267 all-time coaching mark. Krzyzewski has won three national championships with Duke (1991, 1992 and 2001) and is the current Head Coach of the United States National Team.
Last season, Lenoir-Rhyne played Davidson and North Carolina in preseason contests. L-R also played Texas for three straight seasons (2004-06) in preseason play.
