He's not like Brandon Roy at all. Alando Tucker does not have good ball handling skills, is not as good of a jumpshooter, not as good of a passer or playmaker. He is a solid defender who reminds me of Trenton Hassell. Long arms, lanky, tough, will give it everything he has. I wouldn't mind the Bucks picking him up next summer. He won't be a starter in the NBA but could be a hell of a role player.
Hassell's a good comparison for Tucker. You're right, he's nothing like Roy because he's definitely not as fluid on offense, doesn't handle/shoot the ball as well etc. He's really athletic though and is a good defender. That's probably the type of impact he'll make on the next level, as a defender and a slasher. I think he's gonna have a big year for Wisconsin and should be a 1st round pick next year.

He can definitely play SF in the NBA. Trenton Hassell and Desmond Mason are both 6'5" and like Alando Tucker have long arms that make up the difference. Don't let his height be that big of a factor.
He's completely overrated. He makes dumb plays, takes selfish shots, CANNOT DEFEND (no matter what people who haven't seen him play tell you), and his shot is terrible. It's a line drive missle at the rim. He's a superior athlete, and one on one in the post I can't think of another wing player I'd rather have. If he doesn't make the shot, which he almost always does, he'll draw contact or keep grabbing the rebounds until he makes it. But guys, you're completely off on his strengths.
(For the record, Marcus Landry is the next great player out of Wisconsin, not Alando)
I still dont get why Nimreitz thinks he is overrated, if anything I think he is underrated. Its almost like we are watching a different player from your review above. Landry is goig to be a nice prospect though, I'll give you that.
Anyways i think Tucker can make into the NBA somewhere between mid first round to early second round.
Well, you guys need to understand that when I look at a player and call him out, it's usually because they are good. I'm not dogging out Kammron Taylor because he's not going to be on the NBA radar and he doesn't need to get called out. But if someone gets on that radar, they need to be evaluated as an NBA player, not as a college player.
Alando Tucker is a great college player and he has NBA Athleticism. However he's old as a 5th year senior which doesn't mean much, but it does count for something, and he's too small to play the 3 in the league. He has athleticism, but it's not at that level that will allow him to play up a position. He's kind of like Desmond Mason in that regard; and since DMase was a second rounder, that's probably not a bad comparison.
I love Alando in the post, but he's unorthodox; he doesn't seem to have a go-to move and he banks it all the time. Not that it's bad, it's just weird to see. I don't think he can do that in the NBA, there aren't any NBA teams that run the swing offense, so he'll be posting up Yao Ming, not Jerel McNeal.
Secondly his defense is not good. He cannot defend NBA wings. Anyone notice against Marquette how Wisconsin would run out three guys who were 6'2'' or smaller to defend the Marquette guards leaving Alando to guard the post. That's because Tucker couldn't guard any of them. And as a native Milwaukeean I love McNeal and Matthews of Marquette, but if Alando can't defend them he has no chance against Kobe.
I just don't see him in the NBA, I don't see how he fits in. He cannot shoot. He was lucky because it was falling, but Alando, it's been FIVE YEARS and you still can't shoot. I yell "NO!" every time he shoots a three. He should be automatic by now at this level.
I think he's probably somewhere between Desmond Mason and PJ Tucker.
