What is the big deal about this guy? He has been outplayed by smaller guys in both games vs. LSU and Tennessee. This passion **** is overrated. It's like the same crap with Adam Morrison all over. Hey Mateen Cleaves has passion, let's draft him 1st.
Talent is what matters, not how many ugly faces you make. I predict John Scheyer will be talked about in the coming years, because of his "Passion."
HKF I think Noah is very overrated you make very good points.... BTW off topic those pics on you avatar are just plain crazy....

I like players who bring passion and energy everynight but that alone doesn't get it done in the NBA. I like his game but I don't know if he would be a good starter in the NBA. I think he would be better to bring off the bench when a team needs a spark.

82 games of average play will kill a lot of passion. This guy is not improving at all.

I was not talking about Morrison's basketball playing ability. I simply remarked about "passion." That stuff is completely overhyped and immaterial on whether or not someone will succeed on the pro level. In practically the same amount of time, the college kids play in upwards of 45+ less games then the pros per season. All that passion stuff doesn't fly when you're hitting the rookie wall, fifteen games into your season.
Passion is great, it shows someone cares, but if I have to see another person use passion as a reason why Noah will succeed, I will scream. To me, Kobe has passion, because he improves every year and works hard on his game. Passion is obsession, to improve and continue to be the best. Not yelling because you made a routine play.

I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be the 4th best player to come out of a Florida college this year after Horford, Brewer and Thornton.
I'm sticking with a slightly better version of Anderson Varejao, and no it has nothing to do with them both having long hair.
With Noah's performances this year, I'm not even sure he's going to better than Varejao. I get the feeling that he's going to stay all four years in college. He seems to love being the big man on campus.
It seems that him and Big Baby have both regressed this year.
Will Noah be able to guard SF's in the NBA for a few minutes a game?

Depending on who is playing SF, yes. However, he needs to get in the L and prove he can guard a face up PF like Garnett, Brand, Rasheed, ect. before he moves out on the perimeter.

We're talking about the perception of GM's though. If Noah is able to demonstrate enough lateral quickness and agility in a workout that convinces a GM or 2 that he has the ability to guard the 5, 4 & 3, we are talking about somebody that jumps up draft boards.
The film is there on these guys, but GM's are often swayed by the individual workouts.

I agree with most of the people here. I don't think he's going to be an All-Star in the league. But, I think he's going to have a long career in the NBA. He's 6'11" with good all-around skill and he's a pretty smart player too. He's also not a stiff like most bigs. At best I think he's going to be a Shane Battier type.

The thing is Noah could guard on the perimeter in college and while he will show good lateral quickness on film, he is going to have to go 1 on 1 against guys who can shoot over him and put the ball on the floor. If I am a NBA GM I mark down that he can guard the 5 position and face up 4's on the perimeter. I dont mark down he can guard 3's, and hope that he proves he can as an added bonus to drafting him.
In my opinion I think he can guard 3's, but like you said only for about 5 mins a game. If I am a coach I dont put him out there to guard the 3 for any minutes, but I tell him and the SF, if he has nice size, to switch on all screens.
It will be intersting to see what players Noah works out with.
I don't think anyone thinks he'll be a superstar, but he'll be a solid rotation guy in the post. Noah's not going to blow anyone away, but he's not going to be a liability on the floor either. His defense will be good and he'll get plenty of garbage points. He'll get $6-7m/year after his rookie deal is over.

I don't think he has to be able to guard 3's but his value is in that he will not be overmatched when switched onto them. Also, he can get back vs. teams that try and go small. Can play the 5 if his team goes small. Very underrated at this point.
