It's amazing how the 6 televised games of the tournament can completely change how your profile is received. Same thing happened to LSU last year.
And Tyrus Thomas (not even on the radar at all, even as a second rounder before the tournament) looks pretty legit. Not many people knew about Dwyane Wade until he threw up that triple double against Kentucky in the Tournament either.
Umm FYI Nimreitz, Conley is not a pass first point guard, and at this point he is completely overrated. I laugh when I read the Blazers are thinking of teaming him up with Oden, did they not watch OSU this year, how many times did Conley ever pass the ball to the big man. The guy is a heady player no doubt, but he is nothing like Paul or Deron

AGREED
This is stupid, of the Hawks but Bucher reports that Conley is as much of a lock for the 3 spot, as Oden and Durant are for the 1 and 2. Can't find the link, but its prolly somewhere on ESPN.com. I think this is totally stupid, we should be picking Wright. The one time we pick a PG and he's gonna be nothing more than average.
Here is what I posted in the Nets forum about Conley going at 3

I think perhaps you are the one who did not watch OSU this year.
Atlanta is going to select J Crit at #11 and a big at #3. I am predicting Noah at #3 and for the Hawks to get roasted fot it until right about they start looking like a playoff lock in the East.
PG Claxton, Johnson, Lue
SG JJ, Crit, Stodamire
SF Chil, Marvin
PF J Smooth, Sheldon
C Noah, ZaZa, Wright
I think this team is good and they can transition Crit from SG to PG slowly.

Don't talk about things you know nothing about. Tyrus Thomas wasn't on the radar as even a second rounder before the tournament last year? Get out of here with that.

yeah, he was said to be a top-10 pick. I think he was confused with Glen "big baby" Davis.

If they like Noah they can still take him with their pick at #11.

No.......
TT wasn't known to anyone! Hell, I was expecting Tazmin Mitchell to be a more important player on that team going into March without watching them much.
Here's Chad Ford on April 17, 2006:

The other guy declaring, Tyrus Thomas, is the Bizarro version of Rudy Gay. While Gay was the consensus No. 1 pick on the preseason draft boards of most scouts, Thomas wasn't in the Top 100. After a redshirt season at LSU last year, no one expected Thomas to deliver the way he did. By January, scouts were referring to Thomas as a potential lottery pick for next year. By late January, they had moved up the timetable -- now he's a potential top-five pick this year.
After a dominating performance in the NCAA tournament against Duke and Texas, Thomas is now considered by a number of scouts to be the top prospect in the draft. If Joakim Noah sticks to his guns and returns to Florida, the possibility that Thomas goes No. 1 increases dramatically.
Ok fine, late January. It wasn't a Tournament breakout, but it was an incredible breakout nonetheless. It's not like Dwyane Wade was an unknown before his Tournament success, nor was Mike Conley Jr.
