Conley's a good point guard, I'd be surprised if he doesn't come out as a mid 1st rounder (probably after sophomore year). I just wish they'd pound it down low a little more often to Oden. That'd be my only problem, and he needs to develop his jumper a little more.

His play so far in the tournament has been fantastic, carrying the team when Oden is on the bench and has been the main reason OSU are in the Championship Game.

When OSU pounds the ball down low it hurts their offense, especially when Oden has a real athletic, long defender on him. Today against G-town their offense was better when Oden was out of the game. I agree they should pound it down low much of the time, but when they do that it almost takes Conley completely out of the game offensively. They should spread the floor more and let Conley create off the bounce because thats when OSU is at their best.
On another note Conley is a superb talent who IMHO is the best PG in all of college basketball. Nobody can contain his penetration and it seems everytime he gets within 15 feet of the basket OSU scores whether he hits a floater or dishes it off to Oden or Hunter. He has a very good handle, very good court vision, and is very quick with the ball. His on ball defense is real good for a freshman. The only thing that would concern me as a GM is his Jumper. If he develops that a little more he could be a top ten pick in a year or two.

Their offense was better without Oden? You mean when they scored like 22 points in 17 minutes with him off the floor in the first half?
He's a top ten pick this year by the way. A sometimes shaky jumper (remember he did hit a pretty deep pull up three in the first half) is not enough for me to not take a chance on a floor leader like him. He's great in the half court too, which is extremely rare for someone his age.

Agreed, OSU's problem is that they dont feed Oden enough...
I love Conley and like you mentioned his ability to create in the half court is what stands out the most. He is amazing in a half court set for a freshman and that is what will translate into NBA success.

...I guess you didn't really focus while watching the game today. In case you missed the first half, Oden didn't play 16 or so minutes, I'll refresh your memory. OSU's offensive output in the first half was abominable. 27 points in the first half as a team. 40 in the second. At half time OSU was shooting 39%. If pounding the ball down low to Oden hurts OSU, they certainly didn't show it tonight. Oden helped OSU in the second half, his outlet passes were key when OSU was breaking away. He created fast break opportunities through his rebounding. When OSU got the ball downlow, it usually resulted in a basket, a foul, or an open shot for someone else.
How exactly was OSU's offense better today when Oden wasn't on the floor? I'm eagerly awaiting a response. Oden's minutes broke down as such: 4 minutes in the first half, 16 in the second. OSU shot 39% in the first half. They also managed 27 points. In the second half, OSU managed 40 points while shooting a far greater percentage.
If pounding the ball down low hurts their offense then I must be watching something else. And honestly, if your statement were true and OSU were worse off by pounding the ball down to Oden then the team does not deserve to be playing D1 basketball and Thad Matta should be fired on the spot.

From what i've seen at every level so far he is a flat out winner. To me at least the clear best pg out there and his dad isnt opening an agency so he can stay at OSU for another year. No offense to one of our posters who wants to bet he isnt a top 10 pick, somewhere after the initial half dozen players are selected and someone needs a pt his name will be called, if someone could finesse him and Oden together that would be some kind of draft.

Point guards always slip, we have seen it happen time and time again. Give me AC Law any day of the week over this kid.
My Favorite 10 in order Lebron • Wade • Ginobili • Deron Williams • A. Miller • Delonte West • Roy • Dirk • Hedo •Devin Harris

There is a tension, peculiar to basketball, between the interests of the team and the interests of the individual. The game continually tempts the people who play it to do things that are not in the interest of the group.

If your choice is Law i'm not going to argue, that's your choice but pg's dont slip. In recent years look at Mike Bibby, Jay Williams, TJ Ford, Kirk Hinrich, Shaun Livingston, Felton, Chris Paul all high picks.
