Stanko Barac is a 7 foot 1 inch, 230 pound Center from Croatia playing for Siroki Brije. He was born in 1986, so he can pull out of the 2007 draft.
Crobasket.com interviewed him about his entry into the draft
Quote:
Stanko Barac has applied for the NBA draft that will be held on June the 28th in New York. He has a valid contract with Siroki for three more years, but it is hard to expect that Siroki will be able to keep the young player who is wanted by half of the basketball Europe. The application doesn’t mean that Barac will go to America immediately, especially because he isn’t sure if he will show up on the draft.
"I’m applied for the draft but that doesn’t mean that I will be there. I can withdraw my application ten days before the draft. I still haven’t decided nothing", says the young Croatian NT player.
In the national league he is averaging nine points per game which has lowered his average of 13 ppg from the NLB League. His team member Vedran Princ explained the reason for this is that the referees aren’t protecting Barac in the national league against the roughness of the opponents and that he is called for a lot of fouls. But Barac doesn’t agree with that.
"I’m playing a bit weaker. In the national league I get less minutes on the court than in the NLB League. The reason for this is because the coach is rotating all ten players so I get less minutes. But it is true that in our national league, tougher basketball is played", adds Barac.
